Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

I've followed F1 for 30 years and I've never seens such a disgraceful decision as this.  Clearly the FIA don't want the drivers to race any more or if they do the only outcome can be a Ferrari win.  Bernie was moaning that people weren't watching F1 a few years ago, then we got lewis and all of a sudden F1 is interesting again - any more of these rediculous decisions and people will switch off again.

What about Raikkonen endangering his whole pit crew in Valencia and then nearly running Vettel off the road - of course he drives a Ferrari. They won't be happy until they have orchestrated a Ferrari world championship again.

I'm disgusted too. I really, really, really would like to know who called whom at FIA.. We all know (except a few) that FIA hates non-lapdogs, such as McLaren. FIA seems to be full of old farts who have no idea what racing is any more.

    Let's get the facts right.

    1) Raikkonen and Hamilton were side by side going into the chicane.

    2) Raikkonen pushed Hamilton wide.Hamilton had to take the escape road.

    3) Hamilton lifted off the throttle to let Raikkonen go by - he lost 6km on the straight by doing this.He lost, not gained momentum by doing this.Had he been able to tuck in behind Raikkonen and slipstream him,he would have been MUCH faster on the straight, and probably gone by before the next corner.

    4) His overtaking Raikkonen was caused by the Ferrari swopping ends under braking, and Hamilton out braking him despite his LOST momentum on the straight, and was caused by the Ferrari's instability in the wet.

    5) Raikkonen gained an unfair advantageby putting FOUR wheels off the track and gaining increased traction to slingshot past.

We need someone to save the sport from the FIA. Look at the last laps of the French GP in 1979 on YouTube when men could race.

A farce. better not say anything else or my post won't appear. Everything else I have typed saying what a travesty this is seems to have not made it through the vetting process :-(

Yet again, the FIA are in bed with Ferarri.
It totally disgusts me with the decisions the FIA make in Ferrari's favour time and time again.
I've been watching F1 since the early 70's but I honestly think I am at the end of bothering with watching the races.
I will always support British teams and drivers and I also like Massa and other drivers as well.
But I don't think I can continue to waste my time watching the races anymore.
The viewing figures are a joke these days and from those who I know who have stopped watching F1 races, it's always the FIA they blame.
Well congratulations FIA, keep up the good work, by the time the 2009 F1 season starts on the other TV channel, there will be even more UK viewers switching off rather than switching on.

This is an absolute disgrace, It just goes to show how that the conspiracy theorists have got it absolutely right when they say the FIA are in Ferraris pockets.  I can only hope Mclaren appeal against this biased decission.

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

Sorry don't agree, Hamilton was pushed wide the only option was for Lewis to go wide, he let Raikkonen back passed and was slower as they crossed the start line. Lewis then managed to re pass under braking. I don't see how that can be classed as an advantage from the previous bend. He had not taken speed from the previous bend.

The other rumour I had heard for the penalty is that he weave to many times on the way into La Source I also can't see how he can be penalised for that either Raikkonen had weave in front of him and it is only Hamilton and his  amazing driving that kept the two apart!!

Sorry but giving him a penalty for this is outrageous. They never give anyone but Ferrari a chance and always decide against their opposition. An outrage.

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

To the public the minuiae of exactly whether the rule book says Lewis ran off and "gained an advantage" is a complete irrelevance.

As a fan since 1979 I have watched my last race. After seeing Massa get no penalty for his dangerous pit lane exit and now to hear of this is beyond belief. Even the details of the penalty actaully appear contrived. Why 25 seconds ? That appears to have been specially calculated to place him third, presumably they thought that would look OK to the public because he retains title lead ?

Just how stupid do the FIA think the public are? I'm sorry to say that thuis really is once too often, and the final straw. $100,000,000, now this. The stewards will clearly have been aware of what happened in the pit lane lasdt time, and that Massa got away with it. To now let such imbalance in rule interpretation stand is shambolic. Do the local stewards truly do this on their own or is there contact with FIA top brass. To allow this is blatant favouritism in the eyes of anyone who is not simply a blinkered a Fanatical Ferrari follower, and that is not the same as what we would call a "fan".

Fiat, Ferrari, the public will bote with their feet. Remember Fiat, you sell a lot of cars outside Italy. The FIA won't have helped you when the public walk away in other parts of the world.

My son phoned me from Spa just after race.   Said it was the best GP in history!

Now thinks it is the worst.   This'll turn a lot of folks away from the sport.

    snake.sert:

I think he deserved the penalty

just read what ham said after the race

So I went on the escape route and I understood I had to let him past and I let him past.

But then I got in his tow and he was ducking and diving, left and right, and I did the same and managed to get back to the inside of him.

Surely this is what racing is all about!  It's the ducking and diving that makes the sport exciting to watch.  We have seen far too little of this type of race - most races this season have been somewhat processional and a bit dull.

The last thing we need is for drivers to get penalised for racing - the sport will simply get too boring!

Yes  That's a thumbs up to Hamilton and Raikkonen for providing some excitement

No  And that's a thumbs down to the stewards!

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

how on earth can Hamilton be carring more speed you numpty - he lifted to allow raikonen to pass him therefore at the point raikkonen went passed raikkonen was travelling faster and had more more speed than hamilton. It is physically impossible for hamilton to have more speed at this point otherwise he would not have been passed by raikkonen.

Hamilton then got in kimi's slip stream so kimi weaved around to block him - this didnt work because he weaved too much [he actually moved twice so should have been given a drive through penalty himself but that would never happen as he is in a ferrari] and hamilton alost double bluffed him and cut up the inside. Kimi then bumped him round la source.

if this result don't get put back the way it was originally by maclarens apeal then I for one will be off and bin F1 as a sport...

Re: Hamilton Penalised, Massa Give Win

that is a complete and utter joke. doesnt it seem a bit odd that Hamilton got a penalty for that when he obviously did not gain any advantage and massa did not last race when it was blatent unsafe release....... bit of a conspiracy here i think. Indifferent
