    Lizzie Lately - being blind

Is she really blind in the show? It would be great if she was found out not to be blind and she had them all on!!!! What do you think?

Lizzie is a total pain in the backside, I groan when she is in a scene and she seems to be in many lately.

i read on one of these forums that the actress who plays lizzie is blind in real life, but i no what you mean in emmerdale she always seems to know things, like last night not one of them eggs seemed to miss eric or val even when they kept jumping out of the way, also she always finds her way to places she dosent no well on her own like last  night she let herself into erics office without anyone knowing she was there. and as someone else posted on here when she was doing commuinity service with laurel her writing was very neat and in line when she was messing about with the paint.

That makes 2 of us - she is ruining the show.

Re: Lizzie Lately - being blind

Kitty McGeever - the actress who plays Lizzie - is blind in real life so she cant really all of a sudden not be blind in the show!

Just because she is blind, doesnt mean she is completely useless!!! I hope that is what the show is trying to portray. When someone loses one of their senses, the others become extra sensitive so with regards to knowing where to throw the eggs - her hearing would be alot better than the average persons - meaning she could hear exactly where Eric and Val were without seeing them.

Also, we dont know as yet how long the character has been blind for - could have been since birth meaning she may have adapted certain things that most people take for granted. Her writing in a straight line, for example. She may have developed a technique over time so she knows how to write straight. She lives a normal life - except she cannot see.

As for finding her way around the village......she is blind, not stupid. She has obviousy got her bearings and has adapted a method to do this.

If she needed constant help to live her life, it would make it seem as if being blind made you completely incapable of doing anything for yourself!!!

Whilst I agree with you to a degree, her pin point accuracy when throwing eggs some distance seemed more than slightly odd, but drama is often exaggerated so no problem there really. I just don't like the character at all, and can't really see why she was added to the cast, it's coming over like she is the token disabled person which is patronising at best.

I totally agree, why did they have to make her such an awful character?  I see they are now bringing Emily's deaf niece back into Corrie as well as EE introducing a deaf child into their programme.

She wasn't so bad last night when she was with Marlon, certainly a lot less over the top than she has been.  She certainly sussed him out about being not as confident as he tries to make out.

I agree.  I hope they're going to tone her down a bit.  Less crass behaviour and stop the continual scrounging.

Poor Marlon.  I know he irritates alot of viewers but I find him rather touching.

How odd  - I really don't like Marlon and I really don't like Lizzie but put them together in a scene and they suddenly become likable !! Surprise

I'm not a fan of Marlon either but he has been really good in the last couple of days.

I think Kitty is a very believable actress, there is nothing wooden about her and she delivers dialogue better than a lot of the actors in the show.

I thought her white stick (with the ball on the end) was a one off (or are they like that now), but then I saw Roman in Home And Away was using the same type.  BTW when did she move into the Dingles', (seemed to happen overnight) wouldn't she have had to inform the police because of her tag?Confused

I'm not an expert on these things but I would imagine you would need to apply and get permission for a change of address as I believe you have to get permission and prove a property is suitable before leaving prison.

The "ball" on the end is like a shock absorber so stops sudden jolts if the stick hits something unexpectedly.

I see Lizzy has moved this time to Marlon's again without any trouble!  I realise she is not a hardened criminal but I would have thought the fact that Eli (who does have a record) might be a problem.  Also, of course she wouldn't be able to cast her vote in Emmerdale, she's only been there five minutes, I'm not sure how long you have to reside in a new place before you can vote but it's definitely a lot longer than a couple of weeks!  Get it right people.
