You're welcome to her we're kinda bored of hearing about her now, which is why she didn't win, too much hype when the were other equally good acts.

It was betwen a hugly talented dance group, with massive potential for world wide success, a girl who cried and got a second chance, but then didn't do the best she could in the final, a dad and his son who, although I loved were not the most talented, and then Boyle.....  Yea sure she can sing, sure she is not the greatest looking woman in the world but hey who cares, she could sing, and she could sing well....... but god did it go on and on with the media and also, we have a voting compition for singers, its called X Factor... Been there this year, want something new!

 

If yanky land is where she will make her millions then good on her, but we could do with a break from over publicised "normal" people that become singers and X factor clones thank you very much.

If thats what americans call a very very talented bunch of young people, then I am glad I live in Britain. Susan Boyle came second and has a good career in front of her, whats wrong with that, we dont know how close the result was either, she may have only lost by two votes for all we know.  I voted for Diversity because I thought they deserved it, it was a close decision for me between all the top three, nothing to do with Susan Boyle getting too much hype, nothing to do with prejudice of any sort or political correctness, or dumbing down or anything anyone can dredge up because they didnt agree with the result.  Any one of the top acts now have a chance to continue their careers if they are good enough, and I feel irritated with the number of americans who are shouting not fair because Susan Boyle didnt win, SHE CAME SECOND people, thousands voted for her, thousands were not put off  by the recent hype, second was a good result for anyone, the girl did good, I loved her, but I am glad that Diversity won.  I am a 65 year old white woman and I am glad Diversity won, and thought Susan Boyle was great    GET IT.

I think the programme was rigged from  the start.  It was a white kid last year so to even up the balance it either had to be a dark skinned kid (shaheen), the greeks or to promote multiculturalism what better than diversity.  I mean even Susan Boyle (from what I've heard) had some sort of medical problem.  The whole programme reeks of political correctness.  Why on earth was I ever drawn into watching such a sham.

 

Given the trash that's served up for the royal variety these days, diversity should fit in very well.

Deny their talent all you want - it just makes you sound childish and silly. You didn't get what you wanted, so you're whining and stamping your feet about it. Oh the hypocricy after reading these boards on the night of Hollie's semi final.

If you would like to write a constructive post saying why you did not like their act without sarcasm, hatred or resent then go ahead and I will listen to you. But I am also getting tired of the immature comments from mostly Americans (some British people also) who think they know best. 

In the end, you can't compare the acts. They are both very good at what they do, they both got a hell of a lot of votes for what they do, and what they do is very very different. Being bitter and upset is useless, Susan will be and has been so successful that this whole argument is unfair and just plain silly. I also want so say how rude it seems to me that Americans think they can have a say over the outcomes of our shows. I've seen a lot of comments saying it was rigged, that they will make a complaint, etc etc. Can't you guys stick to your own telly? We picked our winner, and that is Diversity. And in my eyes, they deserve that very much.

I for one am glad Britain didn't just give in to the hype that the rest of the world piled on Susan Boyle, and voted with who they actually thought should win. We have our own minds over here, we don't just vote for whoever Oprah tells us to.

"Ghetto kids" what are you a snob from hickish upstate New York? Get a life, those kids were talented, and as much as Susan has a good voice she muffed the last two acts...I think she is a lovely lady and the criticism of her is mean, BUT THE KIDS WON for a reason...they are GREAT!

I thought Diversity came from Essex, is that the ghetto?  Your remarks are rude and bordering on racist.  If they were white dancers would they be from the ghetto?  I dont even think you know wht ghetto means, better get the Thesaurus and look it up.

Couldn't agree more with buttercupgirl!!  Also, why do we appear to get swept away with the media?  Diversity were the best act on the night according to the voting public,  I hope the press will now give Susan Boyle a break, everytime I open a newspaper (depending on which one it is) she's either the best thing since sliced bread or reportedly going insane!!!

It strikes me as I read these comments that here in North America we weren't exposed to the media hype to the extent that the British commenters talk about, thus it appears that Susan's second place may be some kind of backlash consciously or not. To me it's about time the media takes a flying leap, this is more reason for the public to turn their back on media publications and use the internet to find their own sources of information. I hope Susan will do well regardless, if I were her I may be secretly relieved that she may be able to escape this circus that her life was becoming. Hopefully she will be able to find a balance between sharing her voice, having new life experiences and her resounding fame. I wish her much happiness and I too am waiting to buy her first CD.

The reason I didn't like diversity was, politics aside, it is extremely difficult to separate dance from the music they dance to.  If you don't like the music you're less likely to like the dance.  Had they been dancing to Take That I might have been more positive about them.  As it is I hated the music and so switched off mentally when they were dancing.  Same with singers - if they sing something you don't like you're less likely to consider how well they're singing.  Maybe it's just me but I think that's why I preferred Holly to Susan. 

From what I can gather people were voting for other acts simply because they were fed up with the media hype surrounding Susan Boyle.  Hardly a positive reason for voting for someone and not really a reflection of that act's "talent".  

I dont understand all this talk of a backlash against Susan Boyle, SHE CAME SECOND !!!!!! not much of a backlash that. I just read that over 18 million people watched the show, Diversity got 24 ,9 % Susan Boyle got 20.2% and the sax player got 16.4% That leaves 38.5% between all the rest. How many thousands of votes does that translate into for Susan Boyle? a lot. not much of a backlash is it. Even if I had the most wonderful talent in the world I would not go on any show like this, the unpleasntness of people and the carping, the snobbery, the often personal insults about peoples looks.is frightening. We are all British arent we? well apart from a few Americans, talking about ghettos, and we should be proud of all the talent on the final shouldnt we?
