Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
blinko:I dont understand all this talk of a backlash against Susan Boyle, SHE CAME SECOND !!!!!! not much of a backlash that. I just read that over 18 million people watched the show, Diversity got 24 ,9 % Susan Boyle got 20.2% and the sax player got 16.4%
which source do you get these voting figures from?

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
Seems as though there was a backlash because prior to the hype she was odds on favourite to win. I'm beginning to wonder whether Susan Boyle thinks it was worth appearing on the programme given the #### about her. her Perhaps this sort of programme should be toned down so that there's just a presenter who introduces the acts and then leaves it to the audience to decide. The panel don't help with their nasty comments and the producers could save a fortune by getting rid of COWell et al. That way people would make up their own minds without being swayed by that bunch of Tony Hatch's (heaven help us one on a panel is bad enough!).

No, it was not a backlash at all, but more the awesome vastly improved performance by a terrific bunch of dancers. As it happens Susan Boyle will no doubt make millions out of britain's got talent, so yes it will be well worth it for her. Leave the judges, they perform a great job!

Not a backlash? Some bloggers have actually admitted that following Susan's "apparent" four letter fury (and we only have the media reporters' word that this actually happend) they were intending to vote for Diversity. Granted not everyone is so easily swayed but I'm sure there are some people are swayed by what they read or, for that matter, by what the panel say. I can't see the point in the panel. Viewers are more than capable of making up their own minds without the media or a panel of so-called experts as to what they do or do not like.

Well, really! It was only the comments of these judges that installed Susan as favourite in the first place. One must vote for the best performance of the night which was clearly diversity, even susan herself admitted that. Lets not forget that she did indeed beat 8 out of the 9 other competitors on the night. I have absolutely nothing against Susan and would have voted for her myself had diversity not been quite so awesome, and that had nothing to do with tantrums, hype or any publicity whether good or bad.....simply that diversity outperformed her on the night.

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
I voted for Diversity because I thought them majorly talented and creative and found their act the most entertaining. I'm sure many other people did too, just like Susan got many votes for the same reason. Not everyone was paying attention to the hype. I'm not a massive fan of some of the music they dance to either, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the effort and skill required to perform these things. I love hip-hop dancing in general, but not so much hip-hop music. I didn't like the songs Susan or Holly sang, but to me they were still very good (I thought Holly was better, to be honest). Oh well, seems a silly thing to argue about all in all.

Maureen: Here Here for your comment. The criteria I used to judge the finalists was would I pay to see any of them perform. The answer is yes to only Susan Boyle. The others are acts i would not ever go to see for free. Ken

You see it all comes down to money! What a shame.
The "Judges" are rubbish, self-seeking, opportunist, arrogant and superfluous. What on earth has Piers Morgan got talent-wise to be in that show -or any other, come to think of it. A discredited journalist -lucky on to go to jail. If 18-20 million people watched that dreadful show, then God help the country.

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
As an American, I truly want to apoligize for the way some of us "Americans" act. Maureen, what business do you have calling this VERY talented group of young kids "ghetto" kids? Diversity was just on the American morning show "Today", and they were ALL very well mannered and gracious, especially for kids. I've seen them dance and they are fun and very entertaining to watch. Susan Boyle, while talented, perhaps didn't appeal to everyone. I know if I were able to vote on BGT, I probably wouldn't have voted for her. Here in America, the "sure winner" and "favorite" didn't win American Idol. I didn't vote for the "sure winner", I personally couldn't stand his voice. So, the underdog won, after the hype and the constant media attention of Adam Lambert, Kris Allen won, and I and countless others are happy. I've been labled a "homophobe", a "bible thumper", a "KKK" member, everything under the sun, because I didn't like the "sure winner". I guess this goes to show you, never, ever count your chickens before they hatch. Susan was over hyped, and I imagine many of the British public grew a bit tired of her. She's made her mark, people won't forget her, so let this amazingly talented group of young dancers enjoy their win.

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
steelerfan - It is SO great to hear from an American who is being level-headed about the whole thing. Thank you, and I agree with everything you said. BTW - Is their bit on the Today Show online somewhere? I'd love to see it.

Agreed. The panel add nothing to the programme other than to get an emotional reaction. I suppose that's part of the appeal for some but Opportunity Knocks showed that a panel as not needed and a talent show can run just as well (or I would say better) without them. Viewers are quite capable of making up their own minds without so-called experts telling them what to think. As the saying goes I may not know much about art but I know what I like and don't need a panel of judges to tell me what's good and what isn't. And if BGT insists on voting for kids then it is nothing but a programme for and about kids. Either they should have two shows (one for kids and one for adults because let's face it no adult is going to win when there's a kid in the running) or just bar adults from taking part.

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
Uhh,, You have to remember what the average age of people voting is. Of course Susan was the best, but, wiggers are more impressed with what is cool and hip, or gangsta. In the long run Susan will be the winner because the break dancers can be beat tomorrow if the show went international.

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
Then aside for the obvious reason (making money for ITV) there really is no point in voting when the winner doesn't really have much of a career ahead of them.

Re: Are You People Insane!!!!!??
Hard to believe there was a time when people won talent shows for reasons other than that they appealed to the young and/or were considered "cool". In today's youth obsessed, "cool" obsessed climate people like Pam Ayres, Max Boyce, Michael Barrymore, Dave Allen, Frank Carson, Mary Hopkin, Su Pollard, Les Dennis and Victoria Wood wouldn't stand a chance.
