no need for Freesat viewers to retune thier box or TV. STV and ITV1 London sit along side each other on channels 103 and 977. other ITV regions need you to enter a postcode for that particular station but ITV1  London carries almost all other ITV region output anyway apart from news. The adding of ITV1 was provoked by STV's refusal to broadcast ITV HD service on branding grounds as far I believe.

I'm with you all the way, I think this STINKS. Why should we not get The Bill any more, Ive also watched it from the eighties, and I cant beleive we have to put up with this other rubbish now. Who the hell wants to watch Ronnie Corbett on the golf course!!

COME ON STV GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND SHOW US WHAT WE WANT TO SEE!!!!!!

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

It's a disgrace that they've dropped the Bill from STV and I've written to them to voice my digust! I've not missed an episode as on the evening the 'New' Bill was to be launched I saw it wasn't on the STV listings so immediately switched to ITV London.

Yeah, I bet the removal of The Bill is the first in a line of planned replacements that are more 'relevant'.

Coronation Street is going to be replaced with Sauchiehall Street?
Harry Hill's TV Burp replaced by Jimmy Krankie's TV Burp?
Emmerdale Farm replaced by Cannabis Farm?
Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway replaced by The Proclaimers Saturday Night Carry Oot?
Who Wants to be a Millionaire replaced by Who Wants tae win a Giro?
Loose Women replaced with Drunk Wifies
A Touch of Frost replaced with ***Freezing
Airline replaced with Edinburgh Trams... aye, there's been a delay pal.
Britain's Got Talent replaced with Scottish folk get drunk and think they can sing
X-Factor replaced with (repeate the above, they're all too drunk to notice)
Jeremy Kyle Show replaced with John Leslie Show

Those probably aren't very good examples - maybe somebody more creative than me can come up with some.

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

I sent an email to STV as well earlier and they sent me a reply saying they would not be showing the new episodes of Midsomer Murders!

I had emailed them and complained about them axing The Bill from STV - I had NOT mentioned Midsomer Murders.

They did say in it that they were concentrating more on "STV-produced, homegrown productions and a wide variety of programming as part of a diverse and relevant schedule" - whatever that means (rubbish probably!).

It just goes to show they don't even read emails properly!

    I've sent them another one.

    coprey1983:

I am devastated about The Bill not being shown on STV from last night. I have Virgin Media and have been looking through the channels and came across channel number 853 which is ITV AD. This appears to show the main ITV programmes and i flicked on through the tv guide and it is saying that The Bill will be on on Thurday night at 9PM and it is the new one. So i have now set my box to record this. Fingers crossed that it works.

Anyone that has Sky installed, can get the ITV variations eg, ITV London, from what i can remember as i had Sky in my old house in Northern Ireland, and i was able to watch ITV 1 London. I cant remember the channel number but it is in around 900 or so.

Hope this is of some help to you all.

IT'S NOT ONLY THE BILL THAT STV ARE OPTING OUT

It has now become apparent that there are several ITV Network dramas that STV are seeing fit to opt out of.

Many of them returning series some new period drama.  There will be nothing left on STV worth watching.  The only reason that there is not a huge backlash is that a lot of people are accessing ITV areas down south through their Satellite Subscription but why should people who choose not to spend the money or don't have the money to spend on satellite be penalised for remaining loyal to the terrestial channels.  STV are in no way considering their viewers.  They have just about run a good company into the ground as it is why not give up and just let us view ITV from down South.  They want to save £100,000, big deal to pay themselves bigger salaries for producing nothing!

Re: STV - "The Bill" No More In Scotland

It is absolutely ridiculous that they do not show the bill on stv anymore, I am a teenager and I watch the program so this shows that it is liked by all ages.  I do not have sky so I can't watch it. I no they can't show it on itv player due to licensing but I feel they should change those laws so they can show this to stv viewers.  I am sure the bill was a highly profitable show with high numbers of viewers so I am disgusted with itv/stv for letting this happen.  For this reason I will not be as regular a viewer to stv as I once was.AngryBroken HeartSuper Angry

Surely Ofcom should do something about this?? There is a Scottish Ofcom.  We need to put some pressuire on STV as they are forcing people to buy Sky or some other satellite service and that surely can't be fair or even legal, is it? Maybe if we all complain to Ofcom someone will do something about it!!

I have also wondered about the legalities of STV saying "it's available on Sky" - I phoned STV complaints, and whilst I got the same old rubbish about "costs" etc, I pointed out that in this area, the "switchover" isnt' until well into 2010, so people should NOT be forced into extra expense of some form of Digital TV EARLY just because STV are too tight to pay for the rights to The Bill - it's like them deciding to no longer show Corrie!!!

I also pointed out to them that, unlike the BBC, they are funded by advertising - companies are surely FAR more  likely to pay for advertising their business during the breaks of The Bill, than of some historical Kirsty Wark type programme!! The contrast in viewing figures would be laughable!!!!!
