New Wine Bar in the Street

Apparently Peter Barlow the alcoholic is to open a wine bar with Leanne.  Should be an interesting one.

Hope thats's true,I was very disappointed when Leanne's restaurant burnt down.I thought that it could have been the basis for many good storylines.Roy's boring cafe goes on year after year why couldn't that?

    A wine bar???

Isn“t that just too, too eighties???

Any other bar than the Rovers, however, would be far more realistic for the younger characters to socialise in. Trouble is, most of the youngerr characters are profoundly tedious at the moment.

This is going to be an interesting one.  As Blanche so elonquently put it, run by an alcholic and an arsonist!.  Surely as Leanne's restaurant business went belly up in a very short space of time, she should be the last one Peter should be taking into another venture!  Drinks.  Can't quite see the Windasses or Kevin or Tyrone popping for a glass of chablis somehow!!

No but if it was a 'wine bar' then for certain Wosie Webster would be in there pouting away, right slap bang up her street I would say pardon the pun!

Oddly enough just before Peter had his eye on the place I was wondering just who owned it, it's been there for years yet we have never seen anybody go in or out.  Has anyone ever seen this Mr. Turner?   I may be wrong but was Peter around when Leanne had her other place, if he wasn't he wouldn't know about the 'accidental' fire.  Good question as to the people it would attract, Tony maybe, as you say i like cider Rosie definitely, wouldn't make with just two customers would it?   BTW who would be looking after Simon - did I hear anybody say Deirdre and Ken?

IIMHO a wine bar in that neighbourhood would be business suicide.  And those premises will cost a bomb to renovate.   Stick to the bookies, Peter  (didn't Leanne turn down a job in the bookies because she didn't think her and Peter living together and working together would work?)

Re: New Wine Bar in the Street

Corronation Street is not the most up market place to open a wine bar.

I think they would be better renting the smokers area behind of the Rovers,Leanne could then start selling cheap white cider and hard drugs at discount prices to the locals..e.g. Slug,Gary Windass,Norris ect.

You are probably right. And as another poster says it's not exactly the most salubrious of locations. Having said that, look at the new development of apartments, Victoria Court. In the real world, the type of people who live in there would frequent an upmarket bar, rather than the Rovers, which is ropey and badly in need of a make over as has also been said. Surely "wine bar" is a little passe though.

Leanne should have been able to make a go of Valandro's as whenever anyone from the Street went out for a meal they ended up there. I don't think a wine bar at the end of the street would have a similar pull.
