Congratulations to ITV for using Wild at Heart to show how barbaric snares are. There are only five countries in Europe who still allow this to go on and the UK is one of them. Snares are unbelievably cruel and don't just catch the animals they are after as we are told by those in favour of their use - people's dogs and cats are caught as well as protected wild animals such as otters. We have known of 6 otters being caught over a period of 5 years.
These snares are unbelievably cruel and inflict horrific injuries and if we are to call ourselves a civilised country they must be banned.
Wild at Heart showed how undiscriminate they are through the incident with the cat and also how some of these animals sometimes appear to recover but then just crash and die.
It is good to see drama being used to bring home important messages.
The Scottish Government is being urged to implement a complete ban on snares.
Thanks.
