Re: A pattern has been forming this week!

I didn't believe the semi-finals were fixed until last night. Each and every night either my favourite or second favourite went through, and there is logic to why the last act went last - they were the best, and ratings and profits are all that matter. The only night I was disappointed was when Simon Cowell put the Cheeky Monkeys through over Flava. But that's another story...

But (E)Scala... 1-1 favourites to win? No, I don't think so. Faryl Smith, George Sampson? Apart from the fact that they're at least as talented, if not significantly more, they're also young, good-looking and as such likely to win those votes. But an electric string quartet, which actually breaks some of the rules for entry (already having management) and that 'coincidental' meeting with Simon Cowell when they played the X Factor wrap party...

I understand why they won last night - there were two clear winners, and I thought Craig Harper was still a great act, but if they win tonight, I'll be shocked and I swear right now I'll never watch an ITV show, or a TV talent show ever again. Not that I watched any before to be fair.

Here's one more little piece of evidence: go onto any site with groups. Then look for a handful of acts. "Faryl Smith to win Britain's Got Talent" - loads, thousands of members. "George Sampson to win!" - thousands and thousands of members, hundreds of groups. I looked for Escala (and Scala - searched for both and this is the combined result) - four groups, just over one hundred members.

Maybe they're not supported by the online generation (although I know more older people using the internet regularly and social networking sites than my generation)... or maybe they're really not that popular.
