I am watching todays race & the comentators have talked about the danger of descents & also the new tarmac laid over most of this col.

I was there, descending into Italy 2 weeks ago from the col du Lombarde & came to a sudden halt with both my bike wheels over the rims in tarmac that was just being laid.

Both today's climbs have stunning scenery & I recommend a visit.
