Well you say he is soul-less, he is cold and does appear emotionless, but he was fuelled with enough anger and jealousy to murder Liam. He does have some intense emotion, like when he smashed up the factory, it's just normally suppressed and controlled, in this aspect he's similar to Carla, who is also trapped inside. He is detached and cannot handle things when they don't go his way!
