I really liked Susan Boyles rendition of I Dreamed a Dream but was disappointed in her performance on Sunday and thought she was just OK, nothing like the standard of the musical performers she aspires to be. She's a lovely lady with an average singing voice who can knock out a song from Les Miserables but her interpretation of Memory was not great. Surprise, surprise the panel were gushing about her and I wasn't surprised the public put her through as all the media hype ensured her a place in the final.
What I am surprised about is that Jamie Pugh's performance was of a similar standard and he was slated by the panel with Simon practically telling him to give up and go home. He was wracked with nerves which did affect his voice and his song choice was a mistake but I don't get why he got comments right at the other end of the scale from Susan as I couldn't see or hear much difference in their acts.
I don't understand all the furore about Susan when talentwise Jamie is just a male version of her. I'm going to be really controversial and say that I agree Jamie shouldn't have got through to the final but neither should Susan. Natalie Okri should have gone through with Flawless.
I'm voting for one of the dance groups this year as Diversity and Flawless are both amazing. Now that's talent.
