It was just after 7.00am when I started to write this, and to help keep the peace I am NOT going to claim to be doing anything remotely exotic or exciting.

I am NOT sat with my laptop in a car with no heater

It is NOT parked in the control tower car park at MIRA

It is NOT raining

I am NOT cold and wet

I am NOT waiting for it to get light so we can continue testing some stupid suspension components.

I did NOT do exactly the same thing yesterday

I will NOT be doing it all again tomorrow

I have NOT got a cold starting

And as you may have guest at this point in time I am NOT happy.

I just thought you would like to know how exciting a job in Automotive Design and Development really is.

Now to see if I can get a connection and post this.

With the knowledge that Jenson is easy on the car and that there is no refuelling next year..could he come out on top?

I guess not due to the fact there will probably be mandatory tyre changes.

"Oh no! I've so much understeer on these tyres!" etc..etc...

If it was like years gone by when drivers had to keep one tank of fuel and one set of tyres for the whole race then I think Jenson would have a chance against Lewis, but I'm not so sure given the circumstances to come.

What do you think?

Safety Car

I hate the way a safety car incident can spoil a racers strategy. Why can’t there be a process where either electorally from race control or manually (within an allotted time) drivers engage their pit lane limiters or alternative speed to maintain the gap between divers?

I know later in a race when there are cars across the entire track this will not work as it will not give the marshals enough space to work.

But

As a lot of the SC incidents happen near the beginning of the race where sometime strategy is important, as long as there is a minimum distance (time wise) between cars this would not destroy race strategy and maintain safety

Brawn not marketing themselves pretty well!

And here is a reason why Richard Branson pulled out, they wanted too much , offer very little comprimise back and have dodgy work ethics.

Now lets get this into prespective here, Jenson Button has been loyal to Honda/Brawn for 7 whole years. And true enough his loyalty paid off in the end, and he won his title, so kudos to him. But can you blame a man for napping up a McLaren seat when he has had to deal with the humiliation of his team dithering over a new contract?

Maybe Brawn are just acting up here, and really they wanted rid of Button but do not want to fully show it, but I for one and for the life of me cannot understand Bawn's whinging over Jenson's no brainer departure. You see Ron Dennis on the lose in Abu Dhabi, you hear your WDC driver has been down to Woking and you still refuse to offer him a decent contract? It makes no sense, whatever Jenson wanted to be paid in Brawn, he would have made ten times that for the sponsors he would have pulled in for the teams pockets.

It could be something dodgy is going on here, and Jenson is being used as a spy or a mole to bring down McLaren from the inside, who knows, who goodness damn knows, but I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Brawn has enforced a no McLaren ban on Jenson for a year...even though he was out of a contract with them

Now all said and done, McLaren better keep an eye on Jenson he could very well be a mole

alonso took 6 tenths of a second to mclaren but offers nothing to ferrari as he is not an engineer.

i wonder why he has changed his tune so dramatically. was the renault improvement a fluke last year? alonso started the season just in or out of the top ten and finished winning in japan and finishing second in brazil. this season he has stayed at the back and seem to have lost confidence in himself because he seem to want to prove he is at his best while there is enough evidence to proof that he is one of the best.

Q: How much will you be involved in the development of the next year’s Ferrari?

FA: Not a lot, as we are only drivers and not engineers, especially for me, as I will not get to drive the car. And this doesn’t give me a lot of chances to give any input up until February 2010, when I’ll get to drive the car for the first time. Up until that point I will try to understand how the team works and prepare for the winter testing as well as I can.

It's good to see Ron doing good F1 racing business again, now that the old goat is out to pasture...

Just felt good to see Ron doing his stuff at McLaren... you just can't replace geniune racing passion.

VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) may collaborate with MacLaran on the MacLaran engine. VAG have produced a lot of great engines. I'm a VAG fan (second to Ferrari) so it will be interesting if they do. It wouldn't be a new thing for MacLaran as the partnership with Porsche proved (successfully) in past times.

Button ......... a good signing for McLaren

After heaping praise on Kimi only a couple of weeks ago I now feel McLaren have made the right decision in choosing Button over Kimi. Dont get me wrong, I would have dearly loved to see Kimi back with McLaren and still believe Kimi is the quickest driver out there. But, after seeing the way things have panned out I really believe Kimi just wasn’t that bothered whether he was in F1 or not, and in such a competitive arena if your not 100% committed you are simply a waste of time and resources.

The face of F1 is changing, the seemingly endless supply of cash is gone and the teams want more bang for their buck than they ever have. Kimi wanted more cash for less work ( ie PR appearances ) and the general feeling among the teams is that he isnt prepared to put in the hard work that is required of a top running team. With Jenson and Lewis, McLaren have got probably the best media friendly and hardest working drivers on the grid. Coupled with the fact , they have the two most recent WDC’s and a big #1 on their car, they have a great deal of kudos to ply their PR trade. Don’t forget they start selling the MP4 12C in 15 months time and with 2 media savvy WDC’s to take potential cumstomers for test drives it’s looking good.

From a racing point of view, Kimi would have been a better bet, but Jenson is no mug and will pick up solid points and wins. For those of you who think Jenson will be given a sound thrashing by Lewis, I wouldn’t be so sure of yourselves, Jenson has great racecraft and will benefit from no refuelling.

So taking everything into consideration, it really was a no brainer, Jenson wins hands down, and McLaren have made a great choice.

after all he won the wdc and got paid well over £100m in the three years he was at ferrari. how can he possibly drink all that in his lifetime?

i honnestly don't see why kimi will return after a year of not racing in f1. he doesn't need the money nor does he need the glory unless red bull or mercedes makes him an offer he can't refuse or his manager manges to convence him to return to earn some money for their racing projects.

kimi is out like mikka.

Track Position Software

We’ve all seen the adverts for the new software for the iPhone that shows the relative track position of each car on the track,

I Live in the far flung areas of the third world and can’t get an iPhone and I’m sure if I did the service would not be available here. Does anyone know of a PC app that does the same thing????

I just love to enhance my F1 experience, I remember when I lived in Moscow I used to Skype my sister in the UK and she would put the phone next to the TV so I could listen to an English commentary, we had picture on TV but the commentary was in Russian..

I’ve looked all over the web to find such software but so far any no luck.

no this is not another movie for jenson to sign up to, lmao but could be fact, we all know know that jenson has signed for mclaren, and the british press are now hyping up the fact of a totally british team with the two greatest drivers ( i reserve judgement on that part ). are we gonna have a british gp and for that fact why not move the european gp here as well, donnigton have now lost the gp and silverstone are as i'm currently aware still to agree to a deal for it.... we may have a dream team for some but the way its looking for the british fans no way to watch it live.

come on bernie give us what we need a great british gp and whilst your at it give us the european gp as well in the schumacher years germany had both, in the alonso years spain had both, i know we dont have a double wdc like they did but we have the last two wdc is this country....

Tyres !

As we all know Bridgestone is departing from F1 from the end of next year.

I was thinking and could smell rubber buring .

An F1 tyre has to meet a certain spec and be classed safe basically meet the specs set by whatever body it is who sets these rules. Whats to stop a team sourcing its own tyre supplyer, if the tyres pass the requirements set by the body who deems them said tyres fit to race. Could see cars being designed around tyres etc... It opens up the design brief of the cars to so many more options within the design specification requirement of an F1 car.

Be great to see many more tyre suppliers in F1. More advertisieng and revenue for the team when serving a purpose provideing tyres aswell etc...

MercedesGP and moving to Germany

I have been told that Mercedes have had preliminary talks (in the last month or so) with Toyota to buy their factory in Cologne. Only time will tell as to what will happen there.

Seeing as how poor the Brawn car was developed over the season and was only as good as it was thanks to Honda and its money. Do you think that he sold out becuase he knew his team would be out done by the new teams and be a laughing stock. Could this be the real reason Button went to McLaren.

Williams KERS

Anybody got any news on this?

Last I read was that FOTA had agreed that all FOTA teams would not use KERS next year although it is still available under the regulations. I believe Williams were not a member of FOTA at that time (unsure if they are now???) and they said that they would be using their flywheel derived KERS in 2010.

I am open to be educated!

I see Nick Fry is fuming regarding J.B defection to Mclaren and questioning his loyalty I think that is a bit rich coming from somone who has probably made quite a killing selling his share of Brawn GP to Mercedes. Has he forgotten the salary cut J.B took last year and the previous years when the car he was given to drive was to say the least a dog.
