i have to agree .. where banks are concerned.. it`s survival of the fittests ...& isn`t it ironically funny that Gorden brown .. has to try to operate as primeminister .. in the envoriment he helped to create while handeling the countries finances ?.......don`t know about anyone else .. i sure don`t like living under the government that got the position handed down to them & didn`t get properly elected by the people !

i also see no point in bailing out banks .. while many other small businesses go belly up .. thats thousands of people out of work . & vital services to communities if not being totaly dropped.. they get drastically reduced.. to the point that they no longer can provide a good enough service to the public ..

I was shocked to hear that despite Donald Trump getting into debt for the third time and filing for Chapter11 bankruptcy, the banks still continue to give him loans. Are they forgetting that the world has hit an economic downturn and the money could go towards better things? Whilst other members of the public are refused financial aid, the minority are getting help because of their name. It seems unfair and illogical.

On the surface it does appear that potentially this is a good move,on the assumption the necessary controls and constraints and Management structure are in place.This would then prove to be a very beneficial position to be in for the future surely?

i am in total agreement

the banks have there so called experts and specialists that fair enough may not have seen the outcome and the severity of this crunch, but still should have had some contingency and not put all teh eggs in one basket.

My business has been on the verge of closing due to the credit crunch but if i take my balance sheet to downing street will he bail me out and get my creditors paid? No i will just go under

I think that the large banks made their own mistakes now they should suffer - survival of the fittest.

all that will happne will be that they borrow the oney from the government, ledning may become availabel, theye will lend the money out again (OUR money) and then we pay the interest on money we lent them in the first place

let them go bust and sack the PM

I think Gordon Brown did something very clever here. He didn't just plow money into the banks as a loan, he bought shares in the banks. That means when the economy turn around again, as it will, those shares are going to be worth far more than the money he put in. So whilst the Tories keep saying that we shouldn't be borrowing to this extent, if necessary the money is sitting there to bail the country out. Seems its Cameron and his Tories that are painting the wrong picture

Hi there, I think gordon brown is wrong lending the banks money. If they ran out themselves once they can run out again. Considering this is taxpayers money and we are expected to pay for the 2012 olympics and many tax rises in the future only the few that are lucky enough to still be at work will be paying for it.

with so many busineesses collapsing who is going to pay for all the jobseekers on top of all that?

we are witneesing a system failing and something must be done about it.

we have seen this year how corrupt the labour government is but who is going to help the growing brittish homeless population. Not them.
