Hi,
Why has no one tried to help this lady? I have consulted my wife who is French and has family with vineyards in Burgundy
Vin de pays is French and literally translated means a little country wine. What was probably said on the programme would be Vin du pays de .... somewhere that it came from. The chances of finding it are remote. A few years ago the BBC went to a French vineyard where the owner said that he made three different wines and sold them under more than 400 different labels. This is the ordinary everyday wash-it-down-with that sells in France and Spain at around £1.50 a bottle and almost certainly a dry wine.
The whole point of wine drinking is what is good in your mouth is good regardless of the price and I'm afraid that two years on from the programme you are unlikely to find it.
Having said that and then putting two and two together I seem to remember that at around that time a large importer was pushing Vin du pays de Corbiéres or it might be Vin du Pays de l'Aude which is close by.
I guess you'll really have to get out and do some tasting.
Good luck
