This forum is obviously moderated by someone at (or for) ITV, can you provide an answer to why this is not being streamed on ITV2 this year? Considering the huge cost of producing this show, why have they made this decision, it just seems such a waste?
Is it possible the amount of revenue from "Make Your Play" is still just too tempting, even considering the trouble ITV have gotten into with these "quiz" shows? Perhaps not enough people are going to view through the night, to warrant the satellite air-time of showing a programme from Australia?
Considering every year has been streamed through the night so far, I think someone, somewhere is being very naiive to think this point wasn't going to be raised. People obviously look forward to seeing much more footage than the nightly highlights, and an internet only stream, which doesn't appear to work very well, simply doesn't cut it at all. Someone has made a big mistake this year. It's clear ITV have had their share of troubles in the past, but by making decisions like this, it seems a very foolish way of trying to increase ratings.
Only conclusion I can come to is that is cheaper to screen 'Teleshopping' and 'Nightscreen' than it is to use satellite time, and that 'Make Your Play' is a huge source of revenue. Says it all really, but it's all wrong. If it's not broken (and the viewers like it) why fix it? I wonder if the 'celebrities' realise they will have much less exposure this year?
Not expecting an official reply any time soon, but if there is one, it's more or less going to say "we can do what we like".
