I dont know much about politics, but Senator Barack Obauma seems to be nosing ahead and especially with the Kennedy family now behind his campaign, reckon this could be a close call to see who runs for the Democratic party.

There is so much money sloshing about one wonders if they are 'buying' votes.   The
chap claims he had an Irish grandfather, is that why he has the backing of the Kennedys?   The woman is so insincire and her husband,   The ex POW seems the best bet, but what do we, this side of the pond, know about politics, look at the shower in our Government.

A glitch in the above message, sorry, it should read 'The obauma chap'.   While I'm here, can anyone tell me the difference between the two parties and why one has a Donkey and the other an Elephant as symbles

A Black Man, A Woman, just which do you choose?  Me I would be happy whatever as I am not American and cannot vote.  But personally, I would love to see a woman in the White House.  Maybe, Hillary Clinton will bring a softer side to the post.  Then again, to have a Black man in charge, it would give voice to those who feel under the thumb by white society.  Then you have the other candidates - typical white males who we see everyday in American politics.  When you see a woman, a non-white person or some of those Hollywood star types you do wonder.  Me -  I am a white British female of a certain age that finds all politics whether American or British confusing and I wish it was made more simple in words that I could understand.

The Republicans, are the more conservative of the two. They are in favor of lower taxes, less money to wellfare, and are more leaning towards Christian values. They have the elephant.

The Democrats are considered the liberals, higher taxes, more help towards the needy and favor more of a policy on seperation of Church and government. They have the donkey

and as to why they have these animals as symbols, no one really knows. There's a theory having to do with a cartoonist that depicted the party with these animals several years ago.

    I hope this helps

Re: US elections 2008 - Welcome..

I'm not convinced Hilary clinton will bring that softer touch to politics. Anyone remember Maggie Thatcher? No garauntee that a woman will take a softer line after that experience is there?

Hilary seems to be touting herself as the experienced candidate but what experience does she have? Ok she was First Lady but she held no power and made no decisions so that seems a bit disingenious of her.

Barak Obama - really do not know much about him but a lot is made of the fact he is black. Is that a reason to elect him? If so it is a very weak one.

The problem here is that the Democrats are tearing each other to pieces while the Republicans have selected their man and will no doubt use this time to edge ahead, which could be a scary proposition for the rest of us as the Mr Mclean seems to be little different from the idiot Bush currently in power.

Hilary Clinton has earned herself a new name, Miss Spoke'.   I believe it means she is the same as Bliar.   How is it that persons who a prone to termanalogigal inexatitudes tend to gravitate towards politics..

Re: US elections 2008 - Welcome..

    LOL.

It was very funny to see her franticaly backtracking on that apparent hail of bullets and mortars she was met with on her visit to the Balkans when the video clearly showed a smiling clinton being welcomed with no trouble at all.

This is typical of the Demo-Rat policy in America.  Make the truth your own until somebody calls you out.

Who cares who wins, it's like choosing pepsi over coke or mcdonalds over burger king, only big businesses will benefit if their team gets in.

Re: US elections 2008 - Welcome..

Is no one after hearing McCain, no seeing that the other two were a delibrate smoke screen to let the Bushs' string pullers put in yet another puppet to further wreck this planet, if something doen't stop them soon, nothing will, and i am not referring to terrorism, whilst in some ways i understand their frustration, however innocent victims is unforgivable, but will world leaders not finally stand up and say no when Russian is being brought back into it while a defenceless jordan (usa air base) is victim, while no mention of china and tibet (no oil) the list goes on, just listen to speach. DOES NO ONE REALISE HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS GETTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yours sincerely someone that hopes we will get a grip!
