    mortgage

Having watched the prog tonight, I am perplexed ...  I feel very sorry for the family who lost their home.  However, it was mentioned very clearly in the programme that these people, having got into debt, through whatever fault, when having lost their home, were housed in council housing.  I find this astounding as, although they lost their home, by council standards they had made themselves deliberately homeless????

    Re: mortgage

In an attempt to revive the property market a conveyancer has introduced a scheme called ‘house swap’ to keep house prices and mortgages up. Apparently people who are looking to move to a bigger house or to downsize are paired with each other in a new part exchange scheme.

It is proving quite popular as 50 people have signed up to the programme. Wife swap, house swap, what’s next pet swap?

    Re: mortgage

I can see where you are coming from!  However, I have just been made redundant for the second time in a row and the job market is grim.  I am now finding that job applications are taking longer as there are more applicants and salaries are now decreasing.  For example, a job that was paying £33,000 p.a. two years ago will now be paying between £25,000 and £28,000.  Therefore, I do not believe that it is entirely my fault that I am not able to fulfil my obligations to credit companies and mortgage companies.  Over 25 years, I have always paid my National Insurance and Tax and, for the first time, I am having to claim benefits.  I thought I was covered with my mortgage protection but found that, because I had take a contract for a year, the insurance would not meet contract work.  However, they would meet payments to those who have been made redundant from permanent positions and who were looking for temporary work to suffice in the meantime.

I may add that temporary work is scarce.  Through redundancy, I am now in debt but I do not believe that by Council standards, I have made myself deliberately homeless???
