    Debt, Repossession

WHERE DO I BEGIN?  I AM IN DEEP FINANCIAL DEBT AND ON THE VERGE OF LOSING MY HOUSE.  I USED TO WORK FOR THEA B/S AND WAS MEDICALLY RETIRED AFTER MANY YEARS OF GRIEF AND NOW THEY WANT TO TAKE ME HOUSE.  MY DISABILLITY CAUSES MANY PROBLEMS,, I HAVE TRIED TO STAY ABOVE IT BUT FIND THAT I AM SINKING DEEPER.  I GET A PENSION FROM THE BUILDING SOCIETY AND AM STILL CLASSED AS A STAFF MEMBER RECEIVING MONTHLY NEWS LETTERS ABOUT THE WORK THEY DO FOR EX MEMBERS OF STAFF.  COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME SORT OUT THIS MESS BEFORE THEY MAKE ME HOMELESS? I HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GO.  THEY DID SUGGEST SHELTER.  I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO CONCENTRATE ON FINANCIAL MATTERS NOW AND FEEL THAT I BADLY NEED GUIDANCE/HELP I'M BEGGING YOU FOR SOME HELP.  I REALISE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON GOING TYHROUGH THIS SITUATION BUT.  EVEN MEMBERS OF STAFF ARE BEING CAUGHT UP IN THIS PREDICAMENT.

Hello I hope you get this message as this is the first time I have used this forum, but when I read your message I felt upset to think that you are having all these financial problems.  Have you tried getting help from the citizens advice bureou.  Im sure they would be able to give you some help.  They could possibly give you help making a financial plan with all of your creditors and  agreements to make reduced payments.  I hope you manage o get your problems sorted out.

    good wishes.

    Re: Debt, Repossession

    Hi Lady In Desperation,

I would make a suggestion to you that:

First you check with your Insurance Terms for your property, when the mortgage was confirmed. This will tell you if you are permitted to take in lodgers or bed & breakfast or not. If you are then this will be your answer. If it does not then the onus is on you to decide. I know what I'd do... Your income must at least equal your mortgage repayments. Students are the best for you because you are disabled and they are friendlier than those on benefits. If you need to take in people on benefits then choose older people rather than younger people with children. Having said that sometimes younger people are rejuvenating where you are concerned but be very, very careful. Older people if you can.

If the worst come to the worst and I sincerely hope that it does not then you must not willingly hand over the property. Make them take you to the court and force you out and then the local council have to help you by law. Please discuss this with your locall CAB. The Citizen's Advice Beareau will be of great help to you.

I hope that this is helpful for you. It's, indeed, a massive shock to you and I feel sorry for those who are suffering this terrible ordeal and I will pray for you my dear.

Hoping you will win over this ordeal

    Tick Tock (God Bless!)

    Re: Debt, Repossession

I DO NOT FEEL ANY EMPATHY FOR YOU! WHY DON' T YOU SELL YOUR HOUSE AND RENT LIKE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD TO DO! AS A MEMBER OF STAFF, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTITLED TO BENEFITS, SUCH AS A REDUCED MORTGAGE, REDUCED LOANS, RE- MORTGAGE, ALL FAVOURABLE TO YOU, ETC. NO OTHER HOUSEHOLDERS WOULD HAVE HAD THESE BENEFITS. FACE THE FACTS YOU HAVE OVER ESTIMATED AND RELIED ON THE FACT THAT YOUR HOUSE HAS INCREASED IN VALUE, WHEN EVERYONE ELSE'S PROPERTY HAS ALSO INCREASED. GET A GRIP AND SELL YOUR HOUSE!!!! AT LEAST YOU STILL HAVE YOUR BENEFITS TO LIVE OFF!!!! OTHER PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR JOBS AND HAVE NO OTHER INCOME...

    Re: Debt, Repossession

Is it really relevant that this lady may have received a preferential rate on her mortgage?do you imagine that she can simply "get a grip" when the letter box rattling, brings her only dread?any human suffering, irrespective of circumstance, is heartbreaking to hear about, what an unfortunate attitude you show, perhaps you have been fortunate, wiser whatever,as I once was, trust me circumstances can change, and not necessarily through bad choice or advice.

Desperado,I know how you feel,im in a similar place, but i dont own anything, only the trusting faces of my children prevent me from walking under a high speed train.

Good Luck,I HOPE YOUR LIFE GETS EASIER!!!!

    Re: Debt, Repossession

Well said Raging!! What a pity that its inappropriate to use bad language on his site,as I could deffinately think of a few choice responses!!!

Im in a terrible situation, the property in which I lived belonged to my ex in-laws,when my husband left me for someone else, they evicted me and my four small children. The council say that Im 968 on their list, and my husband left horrendous debts, some of which were joint. As he has no fixed address, the bailiffs liase only with me,as im registered at temporary accomodation,im easy to find, and not hiding anyway.

I worked for 27 years, until my eldest son was diagnosed with chronic epilepsy due to a congenital brain defect,I am grateful for the support of friends, who bring the kids a treat now and again.

Their trusting faces, and their love and trust for me,is all that keeps me responding to the alarm clock in the morning, without them I honestly dont know.......

I hope your horrible situation improves desperado, and to morkah,I hope the weather stays fine!!!

    Hi Raging,

Many thanks for your response! My 'financial life' is fine... In respect of your comment regarding 'get a grip' . Perhaps you should start listening to your head and not your heart!  Regards MORKA. Wait on another two years the worst is to come!!!!

    Re: Debt, Repossession

I and many others who have a mortgage may well think it is relevant. I also pay my full taxes. 'GET REAL' you are in a better position than others who are struggling when you make reference to the fact that you do not have have the burden of a mortgage on your shoulders. As I have stated earlier the worst is to come!!! Many thanks for the luck, but could you hurry it a litttle. However life does seem to get better day by day.

    Re: Debt, Repossession

Dont worry about my head Morka, worry about your Heart, it seems to have deserted you. Get a grip or get real is no sort of response to someone who feels as desperate as this, you can laugh it off all you like but remember "There but for the grace of god go I".

lets hope your luck holds out matey because with your attitude i doubt you can count anyone else to be there for you if things go pear shaped.

    Re: Debt, Repossession

  • Big SmileHi Desperado

Don't hang on to your house; its a pointless struggle.  theres plenty of decent properties out there to rent.  Get help from citizens Advice; they're very good.  you sound very depressed; we were and always falling out and fighting  I used to run to the bank every time I sold anything to pay debts. I got huge bank charges, Don't struggle on.  Lifes for living not worrying.

My husband and myself had our own Lorry Business 5 years ago; we sold up because it was a struggle (overhead costs fuel etc) even though we had a good lifestyle.  We sold our house 4.5 years ago (we had a small mortgage).  Had quite a few debts; paid off as much as we could; still had debts.  I had a accident at work and couldn't return back to work was finished on ill health with a small pension.  I worked for BMBC.  I get incapacity Benefit.

My husband can't drive a lorry no more because he was diagnosed with Diabetes 3 years ago; he gets 23.00 pm., yes twenty three pounds a month pension; nothing else, no benefits cos he was self employed.  We've struggled paying debts selling what we could till the money dried up.  We had enough and decided to go to citizens Advice and was advised to go bankrupt.  We''ve been declared bankrupt on the 29 October 2008; No more creditor hassle; bset thing we ever did.  No more sleepless nights.  I am not ashamed of what I  have done; we've tried and tried.  We are in our 50's and have worked hard all our life; we now want to enjoy the rest of our lives.

GET ADVICE QUICKLY. WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH THIS PROBLEM.

    Re: Debt, Repossession

Hi, I had my house repo in April this year due to being made redundant, could not keep up with the interest payments, they sold my house at auction, so am still in debt, am renting a house now with my 2 children, we are starting to get back on our feet. Ihave read the posts on here and am so sorry for those that are in trouble like I am.

The comments that Morka made are really cruel, god forbid that person is ever in our situation.

Just try and keep your self going, the mortgage and banks can't have what you havn't got, well thats the way I am starting to think, if I don't will just make yourselves ill.

    Re: Debt, Repossession

I agree, debt is awful and touch wood I have had help from others when I have been in need. There are many things that the government can do but it's knowing what you are entitled too which is the hardest thing. I have found that many times it's the people who need it the most who do not get it while others who can get by without the extra £100 a week get everything.

I read a lot of posts in moneysavingexpert and found loads of ways to cut debt and regenrate my finances.
