I thought the winner of the race was the driver who crosses the line first after completing the recommended amount of laps?

 

How then was Massa awarded the win when Raikonen and Kubica passed Massa as he slowed down to wave at his mechanics and thus finish ahead of Massa?

Hamilton finished, but fas 13th. Hamilton's pace with one stopper were poor and he was 14.3s behind Fisichella at the end. Perhaps McLaren simply didn't work with that heavy fuel loads and it was mistake to send Hamilton out with one stopper?

The finish line is at the start of the start / finish straight and no longer its the start line also the finish line. So massa crossed the line then slowed down and was passed.

Like most cicuits, the finish line is not the same as the start line.

FYI Hamiltion did finish just not in the points
