    Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

    Hi everyone,

We have now launched Lauren Wilson’s Arrivals Lounge on the Coronation Street website.

    http://www.itv.com/Soaps/coronationstreet/ArrivalsLounge/LaurenWilson/default.html

In a few days’ time you’ll be able to watch an exclusive interview with actress Lucy Evans including a clip of her first Coronation Street scene.

Also available on her Arrivals Lounge is a Picture Special of her first appearance on the Street and details of the character of Lauren, with quotes from Lucy and Corrie Producer Steve Frost.

We’d love to know what you think of Violet’s younger sister – are you looking forward to her arrival? Do you think she’ll stir things up? Does Corrie need a new Street ***?

Why not take a look at Lauren’s Arrivals Lounge and tell us what you think by submitting a post below.

    Happy viewing!

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

The episode she arrived in must have been written by some one old or middle aged.  Her entrance was very 90s, like Roxy and Ronnie's entrance on Eastenders.  The whole of Eastenders seems to me to be 10 years behind and they make it too eastend of London and end up making a programme which doesn't represent the east end at all.

Getting back on topic, Lauren's entrance seemed like the writter was trying to be younger than they actuly are.  In that episode there was also a line where someone said about putting their head in a microwave which really does confirm that the writter was trying to be younger as microwaves are more modern than overns.  Also microwaves dont work if the door is open. Geeked

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

    Good evening.

I am assuming that since you posted the above message, you must be a site administrator.  If that is the case, I would like beg and plead with you to ask someone to please advise on when the US will be able to see current episodes of Corrie.  Currently, in the US and Canada, we have just seen the episodes where Tracey Barlow is striking an alliance with David Platt to testify on her behalf in the murder of Charlie Stubbs.  Judging from the ITV.com website, we are EXTREMELY behind.

Can you advise on when/if the website will allow those with US email addresses to view the Corrie Catch-Ups on the website?

I am an AVID fan of the show and desperately want to see current episodes.  I love the fact that this soap opera is so "real" with people who are everyday people.

I implore you to please NOT forget about the Corrie fans in the US - there are many of us!

    Kind regards,

    Teneisha

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

For legal reasons itv.com's content is only for people in the UK, this is because the US and Canada channel pays Granada international (ITV's international programme distribution company) for the rights to show Coronation Street on their channel.  If ITV put Coronation Street on their website for everyone in the world to watch the channels outside the UK where it is shown will lose viewers and may not want to show it any more.

ITV makes it's money to make it's programmes from selling airtime to advertisers and selling it's programmes worldwide on TV channels and DVDs.  If Coronation Street was to lose a deal with a channel outside the UK the programme would have a lower budget because the loss of money.  I guess if ITV sold each episode on DVD to the public you may be able to buy them from anywhere in the world as ITV DVD (aka Granada ventures) would own the worldwide DVD distribution rights

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

I can't stand Violet's sister; she is awful and out of place and detracts from the programme.  There have been too many new characters in a short space of time and too many unpleasant characters.  Always good to have a few baddies to hate but the balance has gone too far.

Here we go another, a revolting, bad mannered, manipulative character to add to the other revolting, bad mannered manipulative characters.

     A bit of originality PLEASE!!!!

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

I totally agree with "emmerdalebabe".  Lauren is not at all likeable and doesn't fit in with the Corrie bunch.  Her acting is pretty poor, too.  She should go sooner rather than later!

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

i think she is the worst out of all the new characters her acting is terrible and it annoys me the way she talks through her teeth and she spoils every scene she is in whoever cast her must have rocks in their head she is most unsuitable for coronation street she should have gone to eastenders  where she would fit in with all the other fake tans and bad acting. I hope she goes soon as she really gets to me perhaps we could start a petition to get rid of her before everyone turns off.

She would probably go to Ibiza because the person who came up with her character seems to think it is still the 90s and in the 90s people like her (90s "party animals") went to Ibiza

    Re: Introducing Violet's sister Lauren

I've just caught up with this discussion on Violet's sister, but I do so agree she over acts, looks as if she has a nervous tick and is totally out of sympathy with all the other characters, especially Violet ( who is excellrnt)
