    rapidly losing respect.......

being an F1 fan for 20+ years is really being tested right now. i have always enjoyed the action and even the lack of action in recent years has been bolstered by the insights and input from the tv commentary teams. however today really has disappointed me following the turkish GP. i realise that everyone gets caught up in the moment and we all have our favorites but today was something special. we heard all about alonso's light car and how he came in super early for fuel, in fact he left the pits on the same lap that lewis entered them. twice we heard the term sennaesque uttered from james allen in relation to lewis for his blistering speed, i think more appropriately this should have been schumacheresque as it was much more a characteristic of micheal than it ever was of Ayrton. please, please, please ITV keep it real and don't try to build the lewis hype, this is only ever going to lead to a situation where people want to bring him down a peg or two. the kid is riding on the crest of a slightly smaller wave than in 2007 but we want to hear about the racing and not just about hamilton. massa won today, kimi was 3rd, all these guys had a great race and showed great speed so lets spread the adulation a bit more and the viewers and fans will miss you in 2009 rather than wish you were already gone.

The Ferrari is superior to the McLaren at the moment, McLarens and Hamiltons strategy worked well today, for him to split the Ferrari's was a good result. See some of the other threads.

The Ferrari is clearly not THAT much better. Ferrari may have a very slight advantage on race pace, but to be honest, its pretty negligible now I think. McLaren definitely closed the gap in Turkey.

Although its not anything Hamilton has done himself. Its the media's and some peoples obsesion with him. Finding the need to kiss his ass on every little thing he does.

But the "Greek God" thing probably doesnt help, but that was a Vodafone thing.

The gap is not so small, if you reverse the situation then I think the gap between Ferrari and McLaren would be seen differently. The fact is Massa won with a superior car, and even Kimi couldn't match the one track wonder, even Hamilton beat Kimi on a three stopper. I like Massa but he is a long way short of being the complete driver. Watch him struggle for the rest of the season.

Some of you should read more. I agree with gingerdog, who is incidently complaining about the coverage not about Hamilton.

it was rather obvious the bias today, I dont just mean the amount of coverage, and by reading some post far less blanket lewis than the spanish blanket alonso. gingerdog mentions the attempt to liken the drive so far to senna, before the low fuel became apparent. Such was the bias that they even tried to suggest he was pitting with fuel remaining, This was as bad as the alonso lifted debacle.

gingerdog has a point too about the inane bias adding to the distaste some may feel for Lewis, because it has gone beyond a joke. We F1 fans like to support fair play and applaud good driving no matter who or where they come from, I think the amount of coverage today as decided by the TV director was in keeping with the interest in the positions on the track. This is what made the hype worse, as they can hardly commentary on the Force India drivers if they never see them on screen. they had to commentary on what they saw on screen, lewis,  but please keep it believable, dont try and second guess the reality with ill conceived bias comments on possible tactics.

Enjoyed the race though, great gutsy drive from Lewis, good command performance by Massa, tough luck on Heikki but good effort, With only himself to blame Kimi dips into a slight gully, and just a brilliant move and comment by the second most experienced driver in the race, who prooved that driving at the back turns you into a monkey. If they had a door to shut Fisi, they would have triple bolted it to prevent you smashing through it.

    cheers fella,

for being the only person who appears to have read my post. i do not have any problem with lewis, i think what he has achieved is truly amazing for someone with his amount of experience in F1.

it only goes to show that everyone is so quick to jump on the "i hate lewis" bandwagon rather than looking at the details. the responses to my post prove just that point.

kimi back to back titles and then an alonso kimi title fight all the way through 2009 please.
