    The race is on......

Ok now the democrats have finally decided on Barak Obama, was he the right choice?

Who will become the President. Personally I feel it is over before it even began, the Republicans have no chance and this old pensioner they have put up might not even make the finish line.

Your quite right Raging. It makes me feel quite nostalgic for the Clinton Era. But will he just be remembered as the last President after Bush…..

I have thos odd feeling about Obama, He seems like another Blair.   He is already acting like the President, gladhanding the heads pof state and he is yet to be officially nominated for the election.   He is very much a 'manufactured' man, a man for all reasons, I think I may trust the ex squadie more, but how close is he to Bush.   If I was an American with these two were on the vote I would enter 'None of the above'.

I have it on good authority that Senator McCain has not been near Bush for some time, ever since he got back from Vietnam he has a morbid fear of Bush.Smile

As you say Raging, the race is on.   What do we know about Obama?   Not much, who is his father?   where is his mother?   Where they married?   Is there any other family?   What has he done in the past?   As for his oponant, we know a great deal, and all of it honourable.   It's time to strip the razamataz and get down to plain facts, who has the background to led the US at the start of the 21st Century?

    Re: The race is on......

Now is getting dirty.   Fake porno pice of the Republican vice presidential candidate being published on the net shows some of the democrats are rattled.   These dirty tactics will rebound and tarnish Obama.   I notice Raging, you did not answer any of the questions. Obama is not black, he's  only coloured and his running mate may not make the finnishing line either.   I think the Alaskan wench will swing it for the repuplicans.

    Re: The race is on......

I didn't answer because I dont know the answers John, however I dont see the distinction you are making between someone being black and being coloured. does it matter if he is blue with pink spots? i think the point is he is not white and therefore a different type of candidate than they have ever had before. does it matter who his parents were? I dont get it John.

I see though that Senator McCain has picked a complete unkown as running mate though, some wet behind the ears youg mother from Alaska - strike you as a popularity tactic at all John?

I hear also that today it was announced that her teenage daughter is pregnant and now the Republicans are panicing over the backlash from the Conservative right of the party.

This race is going to get very messy before it is done, despite all the candidates promising to fight on party politics alone - just sit back and watch them tear each other apart the closer it gets to November.

    Re: The race is on......

Raging, it makes all the difference.   He is half white american with a African father.   Most children take the fathers nationality so that would make him Keynian.   Half breeds are, unfortunetly, loved by neither race.   I will agree with you, he's different, but doe that alone make for a good president, does he not need other things?   McCain has personal experience of war which was not pleasant, so would not be so quick, like Blair and Bush to start one.   As for his running mate, you must agree, she has both brains and spirit.

    Re: The race is on......

What absolute nonsense. Concentrate on his politics John, that is all that matters. He was born in America so he is American.

    Re: The race is on......

Yes Raging, what politics?   We are witnessing an election, politics plays little part, its all down to Hype and showmanship.   You being a socialist and a backer of Bliar must know that.   He wa a shallow person who could not tell the truth if it tried   Brown basked in his reflected 'g;lory', but with the removal of the dazzel he is seen for what he is, an incompetant fool.   In the U.S. in Obama, we have a person, much like Blair, all bright smiles and euphoric promises of 'Change', but what is there behind him, very little, another shallow man.

One small point, do you know the diference between a lasker and Alaska?

    Re: The race is on......

The correct politics in American elections can play a large part in getting elarge lead on the opponent . Due to the large population of middle america you need to hit the right note with them i.e if you get the right anti-abortion veiw and the right anti gay marrige veiws you stand an excellent chance of being elected by middle america. Obama will probably also have to over come the southern states as well, whilst the east and west coasts of the USA are pretty cosmopolitan the south and middle are still a little bit away from the political correctness that Obama needs in order to get elected. there is also the possibility of Palin pinching Obama's Hilary Clinton voters.

So there is the enormous amount of showmanship required to win the presidency but there is a certain amount of politics that also play a large part and one of them really has to be bang on wiht those certain topics unfortunatly the certain topics probably aren't that important in todays worlds. That is why Mccain is staarting to pull away from Obama
