    Gary Imlach Fan Club

Since Ned has one, I want to create one for Gary who, for nigh on 20+ years, has been my favourite sports presenter.

I was going through some old C4 American Football videos recently and Gary was consistently entertaining, smooth and unruffled when he used to be the presenter / reporter. His superbowl shows with Marv Levy of the Bills were particularly good. One clip took me back - Gary with a very distinguished late 80s / early 90s floppy fringe commentating from the Vikings sidelines when he turns his head into an oncoming linebacker's shoulder pad. I recall Gary lost a tooth after that altercation!

Phil and Paul are superlative commentators on the TdF, but Gary is invaluable too with his seemless links and well-written, witty lead-ins. Along with Ned, they make a winning team. Well done ITV4 - any chance of the Vuelta or Giro coverage in the future - since they tend to be the only other races attracting the most top level talent?

I'll gladly subscribe to Gary's Club too.

A consumate professional and probably one of the best sport anchormen on TV, I  can't understand why I only seem to see him every July. Extremely witty, topical and assured, he leads, in my opinion, TV sport's dream team of presenters. These guys could package tiddlywinks into a 'must see' event.

    Me too, me too.

They're all great, the commentary makes the coverage and will miss Imlach being dry and witty.

'S all over tomorrow 's not fair.

Sign me up too please. One of the best anchors on TV. He's knowledgable, unbiaised & totally professional. And so dry & witty he creases me. Loved his "That was Cadel Evans' post stage press conference in its entirety" Would love to see him present other sports as well.

Gary is THE Governor, should have a hour long prime time sports show every week full of dry wit and intelligence and a lot of cycling news, its about time the boys answered the perrenial email to the team 'what do you do for the rest of the year' etc (Paul owns a gold mine etc)

so much so you had to repeat it! Big Smile

With you guys all the way. Gazza is a top guy as too are all his mates, Ned, Paul and the legend Mr Liggett. ITV4 should get the tv Oscar equivalent for its superb coverage.

    blinky:
One of the best anchors on TV...Would love to see him present other sports as well.

He also did the business for ITV when they had the NFL postseason coverage. Dare I suggest that ITV sports aren't furnished with an abundance of talent in their presenter lineup. However, here they've got someone who appears to garner strong praise from fans of multiple sports so it would be good to see him pop up in other sporting events.

Not really interested in NFL so didn't know he'd presented it.

Modest as well.  I liked his last comment something about if we enjoyed the presentation then it's thank to the guys on the credits.

I'll sign up as well - Gary's wit is immensely dry and funny and simply adds to his fantastic presentation skills.

I too remember the old American football days and have been an admirer since then.

    Long may he reign!!

    Re: Gary Imlach Fan Club

over the years there have been umpteen sports presenters on tv and radio, only a handful have really made a impact. The Imlach is one such person, i too started off watching american football when he presented, the ultimate pro he  somehow got all the info over in a way that was done with the minimum of fuss but with  humerous overtones.

God knows how many bad U S football linkmen there have been no wonder the game has never taken off over here properly, ex rugby guys , idiots who love the sound of their own voice etc.... arise sir garry man of the people
