Lewis Hamilton was stripped of a dramatic victory

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton was stripped of a dramatic victory in the Belgian Grand Prix after stewards handed him a 25-second post-race penalty.

The Englishman was demoted to third place behind Ferrari's Felipe Massa and BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld.

The move came after an investigation into a late-race battle between Hamilton and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.

    Agreed,

I hope McLaren appeal the verdict

Re: Lewis Hamilton was stripped of a dramatic victory

I'm confused. Hamilton handed the place back and did not have a mommentum advantage over Raikkonnen. Further, from what I remember of the incident I dont think Hamilton was particularly at fault for having to take to the escape road. Even Charlie Whiting said it was a fair move.

Just what is the penalty for?  Is there a contractual requirement for a red car to win the championship again?

Punishment given for Lewis not backing off enough on the straight, after the chicane incident.

I can not begin to describe how angry I am at this - it makes a joke of the entire race.  If he had cut Kimi off and continued without giving him back the place then fair enough, penalise him, but he didn't.  Kimi edged him off the track and he had no option but to cut across and he gave the place back to Kimi.  Got to admit, I've always laughed at the posts about the Ferrari bias but seriously beginning to wonder now!

Re: Lewis Hamilton was stripped of a dramatic victory

I am bemused! Are they penalising racing now???! This is beyond a joke! I want to see the evidence upon which this decision has been made! Charlie W thought they had complied with the rules. the FIA obviously watched a different race to me!

I don't mind who wins if its a fair race but it seems to me the FIA feel the need to intervene to ensure Ferrari win, even if it is by default - AGAIN.

I think it is for not letting Ferrari win!
