    brits binge drinking abroad

everyone is an ambassador of their country.

english travellers are known as 'drunken louts' this includes women the airports allow drinking, the flights offer drink so when you arrive your probably drunk

..the germans on holiday  take up any poolside space available with their towels harmless but annoying

    ,the italians pinch bottoms,also harmless!

why do we english behave in such a disgusting way abroad.how do you have a good vacation if your constantly drunk,

the transmission of sexual disease must be of high importance, and hard to control.the authorities must take these louts in hand as they would at home

,the police abroad have also been a party to this behaviour,by allowing it to go on for so long.

how can someone drunk, unable to defend themselves in any circumstance be thought to be harmless fun.

your home now.you show signs of

assault, you have an std, and pregnant

    Re: brits binge drinking abroad

At least abroad, there are few violent incidents because the police are so strict!

The same thing is happening in this country with people drinking far too much, but being more violent because the police do not tackle violence enough.

but then, what else is there to do?? How do people meet each other socially outside work???

There isn't enough to do that doesn't involve alchohol.

Cinema - Bar, Bowling - Bar, Going out for a meal, Bar, Pubs/clubs- obviously with a bar.

Certain people change a lot through drink in personality, something that cannot be controlled in certain people!!!

They ban cigarettes from view, why not make alchohol something you have to ask for but not see!

The resorts encourage us to get drunk and have fun. Although, its hard to buy alchohol 24 hours a day now.  That was quite annoying when we were all in the party mood.  Its bad when you have to buy alchohol before you go out to guess what you will need for the party after!!!

Same with cigarettes, i was down to 5 a day before the smoking ban.  Im on more as i feel i have to get them in within the comfort of my own home before i go out.

Lots of clubs / pubs are not even letting you take your drink out with your cigarette in the cold!!!

As for the italians pinching bottoms, aint that classed as sexual harrassment now???

Ive been on several holidays and been worse for wear quite a lot, it depends on the people you are with.  My last hol in ibiza was the best ever and we all were drinking loads, but didn't damage anything or anybody!! Can't wait for next year!! Its good escapism from the life we have to lead in Britain.

Mortgages, - payments for a house you cant keep more like!!

Rising bills etc its depressing in britain, and not very sunny and warm!!

Don't blame the young for having fun !!!

PS I have never come home with an std, have never slept with anyone on a holiday

    I am 30!!

I think the Labour Government should pay "Brits" to go abroad and get "Smashed out of their heads" whilst having a great time letting off a bit of steam as only Brits know how. I myself love getting drunk and annoying people all over the planet, especially the "Jocks" because they tend to react  aggressively and I love it.

    Cheers Hic

its people like you that give british people a bad name, nothing against having a drink, but to incite  anger is a disgrace.grow uo and get real, wait while you have a family member that has been attacked by a drunken moron, and you may change your attitude.

It astounds me why people, young and old, have to drink alcohol to enjoy themselves in the first place.  Its false happiness.

You probably think the 'country' you are in is also rubbish if you can't find an english breakfast or a karaoke bar.

    Shameful

    Re: brits binge drinking abroad

    The problem begins here.....at home.

Go to Italy, Germany, France or Holland and you will not see the herds of "yoofs" going out to get mortal drunk. There is an obsession in this country about getting of your face.

At least on the continent the kids there just like hanging out and doing stuff together. When they grow into adults they do not feel the need to drink as much as possible a quickly as possible. They go for a meal and have a glass of wine, they can go to the cinema without the need to visit a bar etc........

We need to change our culture at home before we can tackle the morons embarrasing us abroad.

seen it umpteen times julia......i love culture and enjoy seeing how other nations live...but i do like a glass of wine and not just to make me happy, i enjoy it as i do nice food and good company, but the majority of brits abroad give us all a bad name,   last holiday to Bulgaria saw me and my family "babysitting" 5 children under 12 while the parents  !!! and were  ratlegged and unable to get them back to the hotel, I reported them to the rep who informed me to chill out.... they were on holiday.Tongue Tied   ah right.... so you can neglect your children if you are on holiday ?....incidentally one of the children aged about 7 had a t shirt on with the statement,,"I F*** like a Bunny.!!.   goodness knows what sort of life they live when not on vacation......regards..Kendra.

    Re: brits binge drinking abroad

I am english and living in Tenerife, and I think that the british definately have a bad reputation here. I don't mind people having fun, and getting drunk on holiday, but I do think they should definately try and be much more respectiful. There is a definately a bit of an anti british vibe I find, when I go out I always speak in Spanish and have found doing this makes people much friendlier and more helpful. I think that if british people were better behaved on holiday then they would probably have better holidays as the locals would be far more likely to tell them where they really should go to see the real tenerife and party with the locals if thats what they want to do.

However, neither side is innocent, as should we really all be tied with the same brush? Just because I am young and british is it really fair for me to be treated like some kind of lout when I work hard here, pay my taxes, have learnt the language and respect the culture? Also I find that British do get charged more for taxis and drinks etc.
