    Britain's Best Dish...

I don't think so - it is more like England's Best Dish.  This week is supposed to be Scotland's first heats but so far there have been precious few Scots in it - 2 French even!  And surprise surprise when it comes to the judging the English person will undoubtedly will.  I don't know why the Scots bother with anything that classes the COUNTRY of Scotland as a REGION.  No wonder foreigners think that Britain is only comprosed of  England.

Hmmmmm   It's just a TV show.........    If your not happy why don't you write to your  Scottish Parliament  like  the Welsh can write to their Parliament and so can the Northern Irish  Hmmmm is their an English Parliment  NO    It's a British Parliament.  Perhaps you should enter next year and represent your Country and stop embarresing me and your fellow Scott's.

Gentlemen please! I can confirm that I am most definitely 100% Scottish( although on the show was referred to as Scotch) and I made it to the final- i believe it is on tonight and tommorrow at 5. Those English chefs could not resist my oats ! x

No wonder they put other non scots through, Have you ever seen sooo much HAGGIS what a joke we are, haggis with everything. The judges are taking votes to see how many dishes will appear with it in. Worst of all is the fact that it is not even home made, but bought from the shelf of a supermarket.  My friend and several others in the contest so far have been put out for using a squirt of curry paste or a tin of tomatoes and yet they allow a shop bought haggis to go on to the winners. Unbelievable!  and not fair.

I did well but not well enough! I came third out of 7. I was a bit disappointed but pleased to have gone anywhere in the competition at all. Hope you will be watching the finals week?!

Hi I cooked the chicken for our Sunday dinner (sorry not the oat sauce or gravy) but it turned out really well. I liked the  idea of cooking on the vegitables with the foil at the bottom.

Brilliant, its really funny to think someone ive never met cooking chicken like me for thier family, its lovely. You need to try the bread sauce though, i love it and its a bit more healthy than using bread alone. x

Hi if you click on the Word "Main" on the Britains Best Dish Site you will be taken to the main dishes. The chicken rescipe is under "R" for Roast Chicken.

I hope that you find it.

    Re: Britain's Best Dish...

Adore John Burton Race, that is why I watch it.  But - the dishes are not British. Norwegian salmon etc etc each day another dish from another part of the world.  I know we live in a multicultrual society etc etc but the programme title is misleading. Why not 'Best Dishes of the world- in the UK' ?

The worst offence I have seen is putting raw eggs in ice cream- the judges should have refused to taste it as this is very dangerous as salmonella can lurk there quite easily. At least John told the contestant that the eggs should have been heated to 80 degrees.

    Re: Britain's Best Dish...

the winning dish was supposed to contain three YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS, I only saw three batter pudings, they looked nothing like yorkshire puddings I had as a lad in YORKSHIRE in the 1940s. Then they came on a plate with gravy before the main course, that was to help fill you up so you didnt need so much much dinner .
