Hi
After having seen the news bullitin last Thursday (20-11-08) we couldn't help but think about the poor greyhounds being abandoned through no fault of their own.
We promptly contacted the Retired Greyhound Trust in Waltham Abbey and went and saw for ourselves the many many dogs they had.
After 2 days we eventually adopted a beautiful fawn dog called Fudge who has now been with us for 3 days and he has proved to be the best pet we have ever had.
He has hardly needed any training with regards to toilet etc and is brilliant on a lead. He is so affectionate and adores being with people.
I would highly recommend anyone taking on one of these poor dogs and are seriously considering taking another one.
We lost our previous dog three weeks ago after having had her for 10 years and I swore I would never get another dog again.. I am so glad I changed my mind and Fudge is very much now part of the family.
It is a totaly myth that they need loads of exercise - 2 20 minute walks a day is more than enough for them and as long as they know you are there for them I cannot recommend them enough.
Thank you ITV for showing that article and thank you to Johanna and all her team who do a wonderful job looking after these beautiful docile creatures.
Anyone who reads this should check out the rescue centre and take a look - you will be guaranteed a warm welcome by dogs and humans alike and I bet you end up taking one home with you.
