Was I watching a different version of this match to everyone else, including the BBC who are trumpeting someone else's human error for a change ??

Yes, the advert. did cut in, and the wife and I jokingly commented that we would miss the forthcoming goal, but service was resumed as the cross came in and the goal was subsequently scored.   We didn't miss anything important at all.

Are there different versions going out (we are in the Granada region), or is this mischievous misinformation being put out by the BBC ???

Some regions got their footage back just in time for the goal. Most didn't.

For my region the adverts finished just as Everton finished celebrating. Then the next set of adverts ran over the entire post-match interview.

 The BBC, to their credit, have actually been quite reserved in their reporting of it, most other news agencies have had a field day with it.
