    Pay tribute to Sarah Grimshaw

After eight years on the Street, Tina O’Brien has called time on her role as Sarah-Louise Platt, or we should say, Sarah Grimshaw.

We’d love to know what you think about Tina’s departure – will you miss Sarah? Do you think it was time for her to go? Would you like to see her back on the Street in the future?

Maybe you’d like to see her in another show?

Whatever your thoughts, post them below and we’ll publish the best in Sarah’s Departure Lounge.

I will miss Tina.  I have often wished that her character could have been expanded and given a bit more depth.  I think there was a lot of room for the writers to do this especially as she matured.  I hope we will see return visits at least but in the meantime, all our best for whatever she undertakes. She is a talented young actress.

Tina O'Brian is a fine actress, and I wish her well, but I'm glad to see Sarah Louise go.  Gail's kept the girl immature and selfish.  I've really hated the story line that has David acting out because of his father's desertion and his mother's bad choices.  Sarah cannot stop competing with her younger brother.  She doesn't see him as disturbed and in need of counseling as much as she sees him as a rival, and an evil brother that has to be one upped.  Between her mum and her gran, she's gotten away with much more than the average teen should, at home and at work.  I'm hoping that somehow the writers will bring Martin back into David's life, and that he'll be a happier teen.  So I'm all for Sarah going off on an adventure, and I hope she doesn't come back till she's more mature.

Re: Pay tribute to Sarah Grimshaw

I too am sorry to see Tina/Sarah leave but am glad that she hasnt been killed off. It's always so final when that happens and since she's a very young character, it will be nice to see her return later on a more mature person (not old) but having gained great experience from her time in Italy. I hope she comes back with a great storyline.  I'm also glad to see that even though she's going as a young single mother, she's taking Beth with her. I would have hated to see her leave her. Can you imagine how Gail would have been playing the martyr being left saddled with Sarah's child. Good 4 U Sarah.  Show's she's serious about her responsibilities, especially having it drummed into her all the time by sanctimonious Gail.  I remember being really sad for her when she found out she was pregnant and then had to go through with having a baby when she didnt know what was going on.  But no matter what was happening in her life, she never thought of giving up the baby. I thought that was really courageous of her.  I know she had help...and why not...everyone said they would help her...but there were times when I'm sure she  wanted to be a regular teenager, but she stuck with it.  I didnt like the fact that here character could be a little whiney whiney at times, but I suppose it must have been hard living in a house with a mother who was constantly putting her love life ahead of her responsibility to her family and  putting her kids lives in danger.  I couldnt believe Gail at times.  And as for Martin's behaviour.  Shame on him just running out on his kids.  Very poor behaviour.  In fact, I'm surprised his new wife (knowing how close he was to his kids especially) would ensure that he spent as much time with them.  But I guess she was just as selfish as he was. I'm not surprised that Jason got cold feet at the station.  I mean, Sarah has sort of railroaded him from the time they started going out together.  She did go after him even though she knew he was in love with Violet.  I didnt like that at all. So when he escaped the first wedding I wasnt surprised.  And he's right when he said she rushed him through everything. She did. At the time knowing what David was up to, I didnt blame her, but you cant rush someone into something and expect them to be happy about it once they have time to think things through (even though Jason doesnt really do much thinking does he). But it was bound to happen (even without David's interference) When Charlie died and Sarah stepped up to the plate and helped Jason out in the office, I was really proud of her. You realised that she wasnt some silly little girl. She had a brain and was using it.  But unfortunately for Sarah, Jason is weak....just like his father I suppose.  Doesnt use his grey matter much, so she was bound to get frustrated with him at some point.  I think Sarah/Tina has far to go and I wish her well and hope to see her again soon. Good Luck Tina in everything that you do.

Re: Pay tribute to Sarah Grimshaw

Tina will be deeply missed by all her fans, including me. I just cannot believe the scriptwriters of this soap, how can Jason or Gail turn their back on Sarah and stand up for David after what he has done, nearly killing Jason and Bethany. I truly believe Sarah did the only thing she could by 'stitching up' David, my only hope now is that he goes to jail for something and that Gail is left with no-one - because that is what she deserves. Anyway I hope that Tina finds success and happiness in her life ahead, I hope that she returns to the Street one day but if not I'm sure she will be on our TV screens in one show or another. Not only is she beautiful but she is also extremely talented. The best of luck Tina in whatever you do in the future.

She will be back soon mark my words!  A pretty enough girl but a mediocre actress who talks in a nasal whining tone.   Not exactly Kate Winslet.

Re: Pay tribute to Sarah Grimshaw

I'm sorry that Tina O'Brien felt the need to leave The Street.  I blame the scriptwriters for not giving her a better storyline than always fighting with David.  It made her look so immature, like a sulky teenager.  They should have moved her out of Gail's and into her own place with Jason, so they could have lived independently, and showing that it is possible to have a life after a teenage pregnancy.  Sarah was stuck in a rut living at Gail's and washing hair in her nan's salon, no wonder a new life in Milan seemed appealing!

    Sarah will be missed.
