Hello Aylene,
I know exactly where you are coming from and I often watch the programme and can hardly believe my eyes or ears!
Some mother's and father's amaze me and how they behave towards their children beggars belief and is it any wonder that their offspring turn out the way they do? I understand, that a lot of disfunctional families such as the ones on today's show know no better and a lot the time it's how they have all been raisied, where they live and who they associate with? I think the values they have been taught go a long way to explaining why they conduct themselves as they do, but surely they cannot be happy living this way? The children they have, will no doubt be brought up with the same values and will more than likely be carbon copies of their parents and so sadly the vicious circle will continue into the next generation and so on! What is the answer? I just do not know but when I see them all kicking off I despair, I really do!
Another gripe of mine is just how many young people are having babies and expecting hard working people like us to maintain them and it makes my blood boil to hear they are given benefits and housing! To see so many young men and women sleeping around with no respect for their bodies, falling pregnant and then demanding DNA'S in order to establish who is the father really does send my blood pressure through the roof and I think why does the government support this apparant trend? If such people couldnt get the help with benefits and housing that they receive then maybe the message would soon get around that anyone who does not take responsibility for their sexual behaviour and is careless enough to fall pregnant, it is no longer an easy ride and unless they get a job their benefits are limited! That may sound harsh but until these young people realise that a baby is not a shortcut to getting a house and benefits they will continue to throw caution to the wind and bring more and more unplanned babies into the world! Why should we the tax payer support them and why should they be allowed to take advantage of the benefit system like they clearly do? Something has got to give - as otherwise I can only see things getting worse!
My daughter is 28 years old, happily married and would love to start a family. She is a grammar school teacher and although she and her husband are on a reasonable wage, they cannot at the moment afford for her to give up work to have a baby. They own their own home and like all young people when buying their first home, the mortgage takes a major slice of their income and so If my daughter were to finish work to have a child they would really struggle to meet their mortgage repayments etc. However, my daughter does not want to be an older first time mum, so they hope to start their family before she is 30 but she knows she will have to return to work at least on a part time basis after her maternity leave is over. To be honest, my daughter isn't keen on the idea of having to leave a young baby and return to work as she feels a baby needs to be with its mother but sadly, it is the only way they can realisitcally afford to have a baby so she has no option really and has resigned herself to the fact that this is the only way!
My heart breaks for daughter and son in law and I find it so annoying to think that here is a responsible working couple who are having to delay starting a much wanted family due to there being no financial help available to hard working couples like them - yet others with no job, who have probably never worked and have no intention of getting a job in the future, can churn out babies and claim all manner of benefits????
Sometimes this world just isn't a fair place is it?
