A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to an attack on a television actor in North Yorkshire which left him needing surgery for a broken jaw.

Mikey North, 22, who plays Gary Windass in the ITV1 soap Coronation Street, was attacked after a night out in his home town of Scarborough on 11 April.

Stuart Stocks, of Elm Grove, Sherburn, admitted grievous bodily harm before Scarborough magistrates on Thursday.

He was remanded on bail to be sentenced on 11 June.

The court heard the attack happened as Mr North was returning home with his girlfriend.

Scenes he was due to film for Coronation Street had to be rewritten following the attack.

 

Love or loath the character, their is no need to attack anyone for any reason.

I hope he's back on the street soon.

I don't really like the character, but Mikey is a good actor.

Ive met Mikey at the studios - he is lovely in real life. Its so unfair that people cant tell the difference between character and actor.

 

I hope the scum goes to prison for beating up Mikey.  People need to realise hes an actor and isnt like the character he plays

its a shame that actors are seen as their character espcially if them seem bad, its the character we should dislike not neccessarily the actor. im sorry this has happened to mikey and i hope the attacker is sentenced.
