alonso said ' i cannot do that.'

i think i heard a part of alonso's pit radeo transmission during which one of his race engineer begged him to go past the car in front if he could but otherwise  to please stay off line to lower the temperatures, to which alonso answered 'i cannot do that.' is this part of alonso's technical know how frequently pointed out by some of his fans or was he just unhappy about how his race went?

In all fairness to Alonso he was raceing thats what racers do. They push and dont back off. If you were raceing and ya car was reasonably good would you back off. It was a raceing instinct thing. I wouldnt look to much into it Smile .

but he was no where near being in the position to overtake any car and by the way i have not heard any f1 driver being soo rude and dismissive to the engineers except kubica. does that mean that kubica and alonso are the netural racers of the lot?

when massa was asked to safe fuel while he was catching vettel, his response was 'but i've got to fight for the position.' he was not so rude. massa was being asked to stop fighting for the position which he wanted so badly but he was not ruse about it. alonso however was no where near fighting for a position and it was not an unreasonable request either. he was simply asked to stay out of the wake if he did get close enough to the car in front.

Do you know that the transmission you heard was actually spoken at the precise time you heard it.

I don't think Alonso was rude at all. As well his engineer told him to either overtake soon or leave a bigger gap. Alonso only answered to the second bit. But that also means that he thought he will be getting close enough. I thought Brundle and Legard were a bit too quick to be that critical about Alonso's reply.

Regarding rude and dismissibe radio covnerstations, the alleged conversation between Hamilton and Dennis after qualifying in Hungary 2007 springs to mind.

Politeness doesnt win a race though he responded to a request. He was clear and concise, if he was driveing his car hard and you said earlier he wasnt in a position to be overtakeing. Would he really be wanting to have a conversation on the radio. He understand what was asked of him and he reposnded. He wasnt rude imo just getting the job done.

or may be he just used as few words as possible but the request was not unreasonable and if he did agree to follow the request would only improve his car's performance.

Yes Of course he wasn't rude, he's hardly going to enter into a lengthy dialogue whilst manouvering his car around a race track.

    no t.c.:

Avelli666 is simply being a Troll. He/she has posted another thread basically about the same thing, in the hope he/she can have a good ol' Troll about Alonso. As I stated before Troll, you won't get much support in your Troll hate against Alonso on this forum.

Thats about the truth of it. Yes

This is the sort of nonsense Hamilton fans usually have to put up with.

If we ignore him, maybe he'll go away...

Re: alonso said ' i cannot do that.'

There was a clarification later (BBC Web Site Commentary?) that the reason Alonso did not want to back off is that he felt he had to be as close as possible to the car in front so that when the next pit stops happen he might be able to leapfrog them.  If he backed off then this would not be possible at all
