The FA Respect Campaign needs a bit more substantial support if it's going to have any chance of success.

So taking a look at the performance of the Man Utd players, and that bastion of courtesy and fair play, Alex Ferguson, is it any wonder that it's never going to have the desired effect. 

Add to that, ITV's Andy Townsend's limp response to the Jon Rosenthal's fair question about the actions of the players and the manager, that it: 'wasn't a problem at all' and you can see why it's had no impact on the main clubs.

ITV needs to get in tune with the majority of the sporting and general public in addressing this lack of respect for the officials, and employ a pundit who doesn't go for a drink with the rest of the old lags, is from a generation where all this was acceptable, and is afraid of stating the truth. 

As the great Sir Bobby Robson said: 'some people need to learn how to lose with grace.'
