Cain and Charity have ruined Emmerdale

When Gavin Blyth came on the scene, he said he was relaunching it. But he hasn't. He's brought in interesting characters but neglected them in favour of Cain and Charity.

    Faye/Ryan Lamb

    The Bartons

    The Sharmas

    Lizzie.

Those characters are all played by brilliant actors, and they deserve to be fleshed out, but we're getting the same old crap with Charity/Cain squabbling, kissing and basically doing the same thing over and over again. In my opinion, the new characters are the way forward, not tired old ones, played by actors who thought they were bigger than the show.

I know you only say this because you are passionate about the show but I do think we need to be careful we don't talk down the show, it still feels to me as if we are in better hands than we were previously. We have quite a few really good characters and some returners that will please some fans. It does feel a little like deja vue but give him a chance he may have a cunning plan Wink

I agree that all of the characters you name above are being under utilised. We can only hope that  they are being kept on a back boiler, awaiting some upcoming storylines. Faye and Nikhil to get it together for me! Lizzie certainly needs to be used or dropped and I had high hopes that the Bartons would return us to a degree of bucolic theming which hasn't really come off so far.

I think Gavin is streets ahead of Turnoff and Beedles but I stand by what I said. Cain and Charity are ruining the show.

Hi Vader sorry I dont agree with you Yes they are brilliant actors but they are all outsiders or southeners looking for a  house bargain in the north and I for one comming from a north west village,Love the Dingle's who you will find in any country village. Please get rid of the Wildes who is more wooden than the Wooden tops, and Vincent and the wife who is more plastic than  Barbie and Ken Sad

I live in a Yorkshire village and I can't say I've ever met anyone as thick, stupid or as inbred as the Dingles.

A lot of villages all over this Country have families like the Dingles - it was once commented by a local in a village near where I live that every village has an idiot but his one rented them out.

I think it is purely Charity that is ruining the show, without her Cain was doing OK.

I switch off when they are in it. And I am not the only one. It's 2009, not too 2003.

I think the way the story is now progressing is actually not too bad, I like the idea of Charity working with Carl and crossing Cain or is she ? Wink

Their little plan has got to go boobs up at some point, as neither will be able to trust the other, and Cain will probably see it coming a mile away anyway lol

Re: Cain and Charity have ruined Emmerdale

Would Ratty really gang up against one of her family with the family's enemy?  What about the "Dingle Law"?  Why do they keep hunting for the key to the lock up, like Cain is going to be daft enough to leave it around with "lock up" written on it.  And would Cain really keep a million pounds in cash in a warehouse and not some kind of dodgy bank account, I think not.
