    The man mending Michelle's roof????

    What a stupid storyline.

A man is mending Michelle's roof then he is rescued and brought into her flat where she is only wearing a towel and he proceeds to kiss her!!!!

That sort of storyline would have worked better in a carry-on film!

Also it makes light of a potentially serious situation -  a complete stranger in the flat of a young woman who is alone and vulnerable attempting to physically force himself upon her, I mean ok so he is pretty dishy but then I am sure that not all stalkers and rapists are pug ugly.

Ringing the police was a good idea but even that was done tongue in cheek.

Come on Corrie writers we expect more than a 'carry-on' in the 21st century!

I think Ryan was spot on when he said it sounds like a scene from a dodgey porn film!

Not wishing to sound all social-workery but I too was a little disturbed by the implications of the Jake storyline.  It seems to be that a woman is labelled 'humourless' or a 'bad sport' if she objects to being openly lusted over and grabbed in the way that the Jake character behaved.  As long as the chap's got a cheeky grin then the woman should just 'get over it' and be flattered by the attention.  Not very good for the idea that women have autonomy and are not simply there for the taking eh, Coronation Street?  There are plenty of narrow-minded men who will watch that scene and think that it's okay to behave like that.

And no, I'm not a ***.  Nor do I wear dungarees.  I like men (one husband and 3 sons - I kind of have to, really).  I just don't like these sly insinuations that deep down any bloke who is decent looking can inflict himself on a woman just cos he fancies her.

    skatequeen,

You don't need to apologise, I am in total agreement.

And funnily enough when watching 'Watchdog', the bit about dodgy roofers and builders exposed by Matt Allright (I think that is the correct spelling of his name), we might see the culprits having a wee in the shrubbery, charging for work that has not been done, or doing the work in such a way that it needs redoing afterwards, but we never see these cowboys lunging at a female householder and snogging the face off her. So it has hardly been based on fact, more 'mills and boon', or soft porn.

But am wondering if Jake might not turn out to be an obssessive, his having already hinted as much to Michelle, who will soon have the poor margarine queen running to Bible bashing Ben for comfort!!!

To be honest this 'nudge, nudge, wink, wink,' approach will do nothing to boost Corries ratings.

i totally aggree with you. i hate men that act that way.

i think michelle enjoyed the attention tho  lets face it when he came into the pub later in just his towel  she could have told him where to go and called the police again but no she goes on a date with him  cos she said  had no choice. michelle DID  have a choice she should have called the police  ****

Fully in agreement with all the above comments.

At first I thought the "builder appearing in window, falling off ladder, being rescued by girl clad only in towel, which falls off" was a ludicrous, nonsensical, braindead homage to "Carry On". I found it excruciating to watch with the acting verging on the diabolical. It served only as a vehicle for Michelle´s new surgery (which is being flaunted in a way that makes Rersie look like a shrinking violet (sorry violets!!).

On second thoughts, I too join those viewers who find it extremely distasteful and only adds fuel to the fire that women are "asking for it". If we are to take assaults on women seriously then the script writers should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for this scene.

    Catch yerself on, Corrie.

PS - I´m not a screaming feminist either - just a female who finds such exploitation unpleasantly disturbing.
