Gosh, I can't wait! Another multi-millionaire tax exile exhorting me to put my hand in my pocket for "charity"! Yeh, that really works for me!

Children in need is essentially a good idea - my little girl took a teddy in to school today and paid £1, that's fine. But what I can't stand is super mega rich celecs telling us what to do, making us feel guilty so we part with our cash and then we learn that they have been paid for taking part in the whole 7 hour marathon designed to promote their careers! Not having a go at anyone in particular btw.

I am so glad you said that Champ, as I would have been in for stick if I said that, and yes I would have liked to have seen LH on the programme, however, I wasnt prepared to sit around and watch a whole heap of multi rich celebs making us feel guilty and part with our cash, like you said. Its true, LH is a mutli milionaire tax invader, and his taxes would have naturally helped, along with Jensons who is a tax invader too, however, we do have a government that is quite ready to hord our money, borrow here and there, steal for their fake expenses and give the rest to fat cat banks with no regulations imposed on their fat bonuses. So if I were in LH postion I would stash the cash and run too. However, we have the likes of the BBC who force us to pay for their limited channel services who make billions of us in one year, who then spend millions on a show that is trying to raise millions for children in need, it seriously makes no sense. I would much prefer each millionaire who appears on the show donates a million quid themselves and saves us the palavar!

Re: Lewis Hamilton on Children in Need tonight
I did say in the post topic, "For those interested". No one forces you to watch Children in Need and all those celebraties who need to improve their image and in all fariness Jenson Button did also read out the number before Lewis came on, so at least the BBC were being impartial in supporting both our British Drivers. I admit, I can't stand it and this year's was poor as they got every celeb to read out the numbers and the whole thing became tedious. I had to record the bit after the news to get Jenson and Lewis.

Maybe the BBC should apply the same philosphy to F1. Instead of spending millions on coverage of our favourite sport they should just post the results on teletext. Afterall most people on this this forum spend hours after the race as finished moaning and complaining about how the race is fixed and the corruption of the the governing body. They talk about how boring the event is and wished they had spent their time doing something else, they pour out all sorts of bile and hatred towards drivers and teams and other members of the forum, need I go on?.
Just accept it for what it is, a few hours of entertainment aimed at raising some cash for those less fortunate than ourselves, if it doesn’t entertain you dont watch ...... and the same goes for F1.

I'm perhaps in the middle ground here. I didn't watch it as it's just not my bag. I can't however imagine Lewis was paid for his contribution (whatever that was). I did here about some jolly whereby they sent some celebrities (albeit people I've probably never heard of) on a £1m around the world trip to raise funds. That goes against the grain for me.
I do however think it's a good thing. My normal contribution is through work where the ladies in the office usually sell cakes, bacon butties and last year Indian delicacies. Whatever is raised the company matches so it makes sense for me to do it this way as it effectively doubles the contribution.

I don't agree. If you want to spend money on charity, just go online and donate. I don't need to be entertained by some rich people to tell me how and what for spend my charity pennies, helping them promote them self.
They claim that this is more to open peoples eyes on that problem. What about other charities? Why this one ? Are the other important organisations less in need of a money ? If all that money were simply donated , it would be by significant factor more than if people seen the program an donated them self. Its milions spent on entertainment, wasted on not donating, making little contributions of the rest of the public, look tiny.
