    Here's a thought!

With the knowledge that Jenson is easy on the car and that there is no refuelling next year..could he come out on top?

I guess not due to the fact there will probably be mandatory tyre changes.

"Oh no! I've so much understeer on these tyres!" etc..etc...

If it was like years gone by when drivers had to keep one tank of fuel and one set of tyres for the whole race then I think Jenson would have a chance against Lewis, but I'm not so sure given the circumstances to come.

    What do you think?

All Hamilton has to do is slowdown by 0.5 sec a lap, and his tires will be in better shape then the dodos, and will still be ahead...

    Half a second per lap?

Perhaps it's time F1 went the way of FPA, they have one set of tyres for three races. That would reduce costs - which the FIA are always banging on about - not just the cost of the tyres but you would not need as many people to change them or carry as many spares. It should also help with overtaking, at least if you get off-line there will be no 'marbles' because the wear pattern is different, with the current tyres after about 5 laps there's only really one cars width around a corner because if you are off line you are on the marbles and thats the end of overtaking. It would also add a further dimension to strategy, you have to plan for three races, not just one and to driver ability to be able to look after the tyres and think of the next race(s). With the tyre provision contract up for renewal at the end of next season it's a real possibility for the FIA to consider - maybe a fixed number of sets of tyres for a full season, just like engines?

Do you know the difference between no refuelling and tyre change? There will still be tyre changes most properly the standard 2, whatever you want to say I think Hamilton can do that boring first stint, then kill it on the second tyre change! If in the lead, I can see him doing a first boring stint, a killer 2nd stint and a mega killer 3rd stint if track position allows him too.

No only that a fat fuel wont allow any driver to do too much at the beggining, it is after lap 25 the race will come alive! If Hamilton handled the KERS, I still expect alot of Hammy from start to finish!

Just a thought does Brazil 2009 rings any bells? Hamilton on a fat tank of fuel with kers finishing in front of Jenson when he started behind, Hamilton can handle a fat tank of fuel if he has too!

Let me add another thing to think about!

Button has just won a championship with brawn and in a car that does not have the kers system, which we heard many drivers saying last season how it effects the brakeing when its charging the batteries.

Lewis is going to have to adjust his driving style back to his 08 ways, which from meomory was very aggresive, backing the rear of the car into cornors and powering it out.

So with a heavey fuel load skinny front tyres and no kers on his car, I think is going to be a great season to watch!!

I am a big fan both of them, so come on the brits and well done to maclaren for having the n**s to put together one hell of a team!!!  Big Smile

Not on a fat tank of fuel, I do not think so, however, 25 laps in, we will see the aggressive Lewis and bring it on. and up your viva to the drivers who will stay behind has they drive smooth and are more concerned with "looking after" their tyres lol
